New from NE
05/01/13 9:57 AM

Hi All,

I am new to the forum. I bought a new leftover 2011 zx14 in February (Kawi green is my favorite color). Mods so far.....Yosh R-77 slip-ons, Throttlemeisters, 3/4" Heli risers, ZG double bubble windscreen, Ogio tail bag in place of the solo cowl and I think that's it at the moment. I love the power and comfort of the zx14......plus it's nice to have a bike with newer tech......I am a former zzr1200 and zx7r owner on the Kawi side and -cough-cough- I have owned a couple of Harley's. Also, I manage to do quite a bit of maintenance myself but am by no means even close to an expert..... :)

Thanks everyone!! I absolutely love the bike......I have to work out a 4000 rpm vibration sound in the upper right side fairing somewhere by the right side clip-on that I have been chasing and more break in to smooth out the tranny, but, I can't think of a more perfect bike. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the color scheme, but, when I first saw it sitting in the dealership in person, it was love at first sight.....And, the way it runs.....

Again, thanks for the welcome!!

"vibration sound"

That vibe may just be the Tipover sensor at the nose on the right side under the screen.MAYBE.

It can be tightened up some.

Pull yer screen off...you'll see it right there...gray little do dad with wires coming out(connected to the mirror bracket).Be careful putting the screen back in though...it slips(the front tip)into a plastic slot under the tip of the fairing there....a tab if I remember right...easy to snap off if ya push down on it while sliding the screen in.

My tranny was nothcy too - full syn cured that from the semi that was in the bike when I got it.
try to adjust your throttle cables too - was told that can have an effect also - tps

Thanks beast.....my ZZR was the same way. I bought it with only 2500 miles on it and it was notchy as hell. By 5k, it was perfect. They are just pretty tight from the factory. I have adjusted both my chain from its initial stretching and the same with the throttle cables. I also put syn in it at 1k. It's definitely better and will continue to get better with time and miles......

Much appreciated to you and grn for the responses......

*****Update***** Good call zx14 beast. I went out and double checked the play in the throttle cable.....I didn't tighten it enough. I adjusted it again to basically no play (but still free), rode it and it is perfect now.....thanks again!!

For sure. As soon as I get mine back and verify it isn't leaking any more.

So, you are in my neighborhood......Dang, I thought I had the only zx14 in the neighborhood. Now, not only do I not have only zx14, I don't have the nicest zx14. :)
