Yannih......
05/02/21 9:26 AM

I was reading your Porsche post and I kinda smiled at this line ...

Hub, not saying it's the smartest or most sensible decision I'll ever make at 57 years old, but the only thing I can say is I've always wanted a 911.

This was my "want" about 4 yrs ago..and it falls definitely into "not smartest" lol

Very nice chrly.
Good luck to you and enjoy.

Life is too short.
It's important to live it.
If it means making a crazy decision or two to make one happy so be it.
There is absolutely no point in being the richest man in the cemetery!

My 911 sits in the garage under a cover and doesn't get used much, but it's there when I want it and that makes me happy.
And thats not mentioning the pleasure I get from driving it.
I just bought a new house and it's right on one of the best twisty and scenic roads in New Zealand so happy days there.

P.S.
I feel like I've made it here now I have a thread named after me!
Hub, you got one of those???

Congrats, yannih. I missed this thread like a lot of them. I click on the latest dates on the right side, not the topic side on the left. Bad habit, I know.

I like it, I love my c5 zo6. I also like the fact its went up in value over %30 recently. So has yours!

I should have sat on my '80. Bought/sold for about 7k so I broke even [almost]... "not [the] smartest" dust on the paint, but who knew?

At the rate I'm going, yannih, it's what do I do? Do I fly over and freeload for a few weeks at your place till we fly over to Australia for the gp? Then piss away those days flying/driving/overnights/meals/adds up and not an oil change needed yet. First class all the way, right? How much does a bucket list cost anyway?

Hub, you got one of those???

Actually, I do.

Do I fly over and freeload for a few weeks at your place

A few weeks???
I think Mrs Yannih would have something to say about that.
Not even my best mates would get that sort of preferential treatment!

But you are welcome if you happen to get here.

Actually, I do.

Come on Hub, not somewhere where I can't log into.
I mean here on this site?

I do know something you have that none of us do...

Completely self centred and self serving but thought I'd add to the thread with my name by showing the garage in the new house with the cars and bike in their new home.

Never had a 3 car garage with so much room before and a work shop at the back as well.
It's a bit of a dream come true.

And no females allowed!!!!

The boat is also on the property but is unfortunately outside for the winter before it goes back into the water onto it's mooring for the summer...

Thanks Rook.

Yeah, pretty excited.
Never had more than a 2 car garage in the past and when the two cars and bike were in you needed vaseline to move around.
But now 3 cars and 2 bikes in the garage and there is still plenty of room between all.
Plus a workshop!

Happy days...

Ah yes, I'll sure be happy when my days of storage unit rental are done. I have a twenty-five foot unit for each bike (plus other junk) so there's plenty of room but it's just not the same as having the bike right outside not to mention the lack of electricity.

Wow, what a nice garage! It's good to see that the heater is keeping the motorcycle warm at least.

Thanks Blu and sharp eyes.
The bikes must be kept warm and looked after!

Yeah, I'm really happy with the setup.
Did a service on the 3 garage doors yesterday including lubricating all hinges and re tensioning the door springs to take the excess weight off the motors.
Forgot how much energy is in those wound springs and how dangerous they have the potential to be.

All good now though...

Door springs scare me. I got to work on one in the shop when I was in high school and I changed my dad's at home a few years ago. Hard to believe my dad would let me do that even now let alone when I was 18. Simple concept, lever the rods one over the other, don't let them slip out of the holes. Only thing is accidents happen. They never call it an "on purpose." I really have to start watching what my parents have me do around the house now. They need a lot of help but if I get messed up in an accident, and I can't work, Mom and Dad aren't going to be able to take care of me. LOL Dad asked me to climb up a ladder that was almost straight up and down a few years ago to fix the eave trough three stories up. It was raining and dangerous anyway so I had to say no. He went up and did it himself. He dropped the ratchet which hit me in the wrist as I held the ladder below. Good thing it was the wrist and not the head. What then? Oops, guess you should have climbed the ladder and hoped for the best. I wonder how my dad made it all these years. He's about 85 now. Burned his foot on a broken steam pipe once, cracked some ribs falling in a cement hopper that was loading a truck once (LOL the guy loading saw his leg come through the openning in the hopper) never cashed his chips in early. Maybe that's where I get my luck.

Mr Yannih there is nothing wrong with having toys and a nice place to store them plus a nice roof over your head to top it off.

Congrats Sir !!!!!

Door springs scare me.

Damn right Rook.
I don't recall being so cautious and wary during a procedure.
Made sure the 2 bars were perfect fits with tape marking the ends to ensure the rods were fully inserted, made sure every movement was deliberate and solid, and while on the ladder made sure my body and head were out of the way as much as possible.
Very glad it is over.

Thankyou for the kind words Mr Lytnin.
The wife and I are very happy there.
Mind you except to get her car in and out, she knows the garage is completely out of bounds to her.
That area is solely for cars, motorbikes, required work on the work bench, and blokes / beer only...
