Don't know, but does it really matter. Hp numbers always vary anyways. Expect anything between 185hp and 195hp loool. As long as it is the fastest accelerating production vehicle...

On second though maybe they don't wanna start an hp war that could get ended with a gentlemen "contract"...

Kawasaki and most major marques have not published horsepower for a long time.

Harley Davidson does, if you know where to look. Actually, all the 2012 HDs had horsepower and torgue (can you say tractor) clearly visible.

But if you want to know what the usable hp is, just judge it from Ricky G's 1/4 mile times with the 2012 ZX14. What is it, about 1/10th second quicker than pre-2012 bikes?

I doubt they want to make a big deal about a 200 hp bike to the general public. All that matters is that we know.

Why would they not release the numbers, when they obviously overstated the 200 hp on the zx10? With the way most bike, and car manufacturers are now, I thought they would announce it to the world.

They DID state it to the world, via Ricky Gadsen and his dyno guy.Over 200 HP.Stock.Factory.200 miles on his bike.

Which is not the same thing as stating it in Specifications on the Kawasaki website or in brochures, or in advertisements. Which they don't do. HD does, though.

Shop manual, take with a grain of salt. I have one (hardcopy) for my 2008 ZX14 and it lists horsepower too. I wish it had that much hp stock.

If it is over 200 stock, whats with 9.8-ish quarter mile times? Ricky having a bad day?

The HP number was released for Europe and if you check the website for the USA KHI list HP for other models such as the 10 and 6. It's not really important but I would like to know what the US/Canadian bikes pump out at the crank. I have a decent idea what it will transfer to the pavement from the dyno tests (that is the most important number).

Thanks

Hey Greg

If I had to guess Kawasaki doesent want the US Govt. or Canadian Govt. in your case to put a governor on how much HP a bike is aloud to have right out of the crate...So stop worrying and enjoy that 197HP beast you just bought.

You actually believe the Govt's don't KNOW about this(or other)bikes' HP numbers? So Kawasaki isn't putting 'it' in there cause they want to keep the numbers hush hush out of fear of getting shut down?I'd be more inclined to think it's because Kawasaki hasn't actually reached the final HP numbers for the USA bikes.Maybe the Euros....but the State's bikes? The book claims 200 PS...for the other bikes. The US ones have that [----] goin on.That tells me...they didn't get to the top HP numbers when they began production for the US markets.Rickey ran over 210HP at 200 miles...barely broken in as it were. ...the final HP numbers haven't been actually set in stone for the US models I'd guess. His was stock BTW.Give em 6 months more...I think you'll see a firm US HP number. They probably in all honesty don't know exactly WHAT she's gonna put out in the final production runs for this year.I would say they've already factored in any possible 'challenge' from u know who.A mild tweaking at the factory...which wouldn't take much and could be easily put in place to up the power wouldn't be out of the question. And it could be done within a year of production runs.EASILY.

EVERYONE says..."they'll be making MORE HP after the break-in and all.Do you think the engine will produce more?I do.I don't think running the bike on a factory Kawasaki dyno before it leaves he plant is a true indicator of it's REAL final Number.I believe that dyno deal is really about setting the rings, and making sure everything is doing okay.

The fact that they printed a HP number for other markets may actually be some sort of Govt deal(like the EURO emissions thing....strictly a Euro based regulation). But here...I don't see that interference happening.AMERICA LOVES TO RACE.It's in our blood. We don't like being second.

No...I don't think hiding it from the Govt is the reason. The Govt could say tomorrow...OOPS..TOO MUCH.STOP NOW.And Kawi would...at least for the ones destined for us.You've got 500 HP muscle cars riding the American landscape right now.Regulated..smogged...yep.But they're still allowed out there.200 HP on a bike to the Govt means nothing IMO.Blowers...turbos...on street cars and all.BIG HP.I don't see the Govt stopping any of those.

Regulatory BS,300KPH/186MPH wouldn't want to exceed those speeds, might hurt myself in event of get off.US/CAN bikes are 200ps.Hindle exhaust have a bike I'll ask for stock numbers this week

In fact...I just today spoke with a guy who belongs to "rodders"...something like that.Nationwide rodding association. He told me there's a new something or other coming out...a factory cage....that's gonna go at least 200mph,with a HP number over 400 at least...for the general public.A Mustang I think he said.Doesn't matter...the point being....OUR Govt is NOT stopping high output vehicles from being made and sold here.He also said...some states MAY not allow it....but they were in the very very minority(and he wasn't even sure there really WERE any not allowing big power on the streets)..He would know....he's a rodder.(We have some of those clubs that come here every year to strut their stuff all over town)Very cool. And very accepted.

I'd have to agree on the CA/US models putting out 200ps.Even though I don't KNOW what those [-----]mean in the manual.
