Hey guys,
Long story but I was replacing my battery and had a short. Does anyone know what the little black and yellow ground wire that goes to the battery is?

I have searched on here and google'd it with no success.

I looked at the wiring diagram in the service manual and it looks like it goes to one side of the fan motors and the horn.

I think I found in the manual where its an Engine Ground wire, but not sure. Thanks for the feed back Rudy.

I am going to call my local shop in the morning to be sure. I was trying to get the bike ready for Dragon run leaving on Sunday... might not happen now, sigh.

I would clamp my charger's (+) lead under the red rubber protector off the battery, ground the (-) lead to the y/bk wire. Had the leads touch for a second or less and it cooked the y/bk wire all the way to the ground 'junction' where the wire harness main ground is bolted to the frame somewhere. Might be right where you take the seat off and can see the large crimped eyelet holding a bunch of y/bk wires out of the main harness. Just run another ground wire from the cooked wire to the junction and bolt it down with the others.

The wire diagram does show it common to ground and run to the 3 units I listed.

I took it to my local dealer and they had it fixed in a few hours. I hate dealing with electrical issues... especially when its part of the production system and not something like I added... IE alarm, PC5 etc.

They traced the wire all the way back to a block and replace the whole run. Nothing else seemed to be an issue.
