Is this the touring H2? I can't believe they did that. Nice looking bike though. If the H2 didn't kill the sales of the 14R, I don't think this will either. Seems like they're covering the same market twice though. Why not a supercharged 600?

It's a Ninja H2 SX.I'm quite tempted.I think it's VERY nice.Lots of good electronics on it.5 gallon tank.200 miles a tank.(or more).Excellent job Kawasaki!

Just stumbled on this write up:

http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=27&TID=86956&set_time=1510112130

I wonder about the torque curve, especially important for 2 up touring.
Seems heavy and I'd guess it's going to be damn expensive.

Around the same weight as a 14R and 20-23K+ fees and that's what you'll pay given there probably won't be that many. so 25K probably

Supposedly,somewhere in the 550 range.The 14's 586.Lose the sidebags...probably another 10 lbs?I really like it.Probably stunning in the real.1" longer wheelbase.Optional 'lower' seat.Throw a shorty on her.Guhl flash.30 degree rake...nice.Probably could get her down to around 530,maybe a bit less.

Hopefully Kawi will have one at the Long Beach show this weekend.

With lots of guys in this area spending $30-40K for a BMW or Wing touring bike this seems like a play by KHI into that market. Personally, and I qualify that by saying I'm not in the market to buy, if I was to consider such a new toy to tour on, it would not have a chain. NFW in spending $30K and cleaning the chain every night. But maybe this is a new chain setup that has an oiler??

It's got center stand on it.Can't see 'cleaning' a chain everynight,but oiling,yeah.Maybe every 600 miles or so.Depending.

I may be wrong, but I just don't see people rushing to buy a chain driven sportbike like the H2 for touring long distance. I give this model two, maybe three years in the market before Kawasaki pulls the plug.

Sounds like they lowered the price. Wasn't the H2 $25k when it came out?

"The riding position for the Ninja H2 SX was designed with both sport riding and comfort in mind. Not as far forward-leaning as the ZZR1400, and not as upright as the Z1000SX, the Ninja H2 SX’s riding position offers a more relaxed bend for both the elbows and knees than the ZZR1400. Realising high-speed performance with an upright riding position is difficult to achieve, but thanks to the Ninja H2 SX’s superb wind protection the riding position more comfortable than that of the ZZR1400 was possible. The position is comfortable for both in-town riding and long touring, while still enabling the rider to enjoy sporty riding in the hills".

I bet that motor is as smooth as glass. This bike has SO many good things going for it.The wheelbase is 1 inch longer as well...same as the 14R.

Yep Rook...25K plus.If THIS bike is at the 20K range...that wouldn't be too hard to see. It's a tourer after all. Those price numbers up there really do sound great. For an SE(sx).I may have to do some finagling;).It's just gorgeous.

I initially very much like this bike. Would be able to make further mods to make it more comfortable and maybe a little faster, after the aftermarket gets a chance at it. I currently have a zx14r and a Concours 14 and I have made both of them more comfortable than what Kawasaki made them. I could see myself buying this bike if not over the $20k threshold and it being a good improvement on the 14r. I already have a fairly comfortable sport tourer, after mods, in the 14r with 191 rwhp and its paid for. The Kawasaki H2SX video did get me wanting the SX SE though.

I just called my dealer to see about pricing and trade ins...my H2(2015 and my 2013 14r).We'll see.
This SE SX is definitely a killer bike.Maybe by the new year, she may be sitting in my geeerage!.Having an H2..I KNOW this new bike is gonna be awesome! There's SEVERAL ergo choices for this new bike.Factory choices. It's also got cruise control. And the Bosch mru.Great looking dash.H2 styling.(thank God).
5 gallon tank.30 degree front angle.Fuel economy like the Versys and z1000.Oh yeah.SC performance.Just great!

With your bikes...you could EASILY get a good price for them,so 20K for you would be a simple trade in.That's what I'm going for.I honestly can't see 'keeping' say, your Connie when you would have THIS bike. It's WAY beyond your Connie..tell ya that much.(no offense...connies are great bikes).

Love my 2013 ZX14R, have it completely set up for sport touring, but the electronic cruise control alone makes this new H2 SX my next one I think. Not in any rush, but when the time comes I hope I can find one of these gently used for a good deal. Although, ended up buying my current bike new, great experience, maybe I just need to work hard for the next year or two!

wait a minute--this bike is not the same thing as the H2 with full fairing and bags? cripesake, why would you buy that? I am really sorry but this gets less interesting the more I learn about it. stick with the H2 Grn. Don't trade that in!

You probably can fit H2 SX bags and fairings over to the bike you already have and put a little longer chain on it to lengthen the wheelbase. You're getting worse than Kruz! An H2, a 14R AND an H2 SX? I can't see it. That's tghe same thing 3 times in a row. Wait to see what the Hayabusa comes back with. It has to hit the market one of these years.

RE: H2 GT

Nothings set in stone').We'll just have to see.The H2 would be really hard to turn loose of.

"stick with the H2 Grn. Don't trade that in!"...this new bike has so many refinements.Still retains the H2 power.I would imagine it handles virtually the same,if not better.IDK.The ability to take off and have some stuff with me sounds really appealing.I wish there were some aftermarket luggage setups for mine, but it's simply a no go.It's either a backpack,or luggage. Both have an upside. There's NO way to ride two up on my H2.That's the real only drawback to it.The H2 sx has a very different rear tail setup. So it couldn't be transferred to the H2.Not that I would, but ya never know.Having that option is always a good thing. It's VERY tempting. You KNOW the new bike is really designed well. From the motor all the way.

"Other features include an LED headlight and taillights and an LCD display. Kawasaki also offers an SE version that adds launch control, quick shifter, lean-angle sensitive LED cornering lights, and a color TFT screen".

Cruise control, heated grips.Choice of seats.May not sound like it's much, but it really is.

You could get all of those electronics except displays specific to the H2 through the aftermarket. I'd spend a few thousand on the H2. Put a little thought into it and you could make your own bags. The old H2 looks so much better IMO. If I'm riding a sportbike I don't want anything to do with touring accoutrements but that's just me. I wish I could afford that H2. I'd give you the trade in value.

MY GOD it's 17,000 dollars! definitely can't afford. You could get it for $2000 with your trade in. I wouldn't do that though.
