Rear Tire
02/14/10 2:20 PM

2008 ZX 1400 My back tire is done and needs replacing, it is a BT014R 190/50ZR17 M/C (73W)

As the front is still good I was thinking of just replacing with the same as they work well for me.

I know that there is a BT015 out there but it is a different tread pattern and I want to keep a matched pair.

Surfing the net I am finding Michelins for less than Bridgestones.

Any advice on what works well, what is a good alternative and what is a good site to buy from?

Thanks.

Allot of us have had issues with the front tire and vibrations. Rub you hand across the treads and see if you feel them cupping.(I hate them My 2 cents)You could buy the BT 16 or your next Favorite brand. I run Corsa 3s and love them but I may try Michelin Tires this summer. The boys seem to have nothing but good reports. There is a tire post here some where ?

Hi Romans. Thanks for the "heads up" with the front tire, I've just checked mine and it seems ok.

I have put the BT014R on the back again which will do for this season. This is my first 21st Century bike so compared to my six cylinder monoliths (CBX and KZ1300) that I was squirming around on I thought these tires were fantastic.
How ever we all know the reality is that there are far better tires available than the OEM Nippon Slippon tires.
In the past I have always gone with Michelin, Pirelli or Metzller so I will do that next summer.

I've never had any tire cupping issues. If the suspension is set up right it shouldn't.

LOl, If it works let me know. I have the balance beads installed as well, by the time I got the beads past the elbow in the valve stem I was ready to bash my head in with a cup. Off Topic, I know Boooo.LOL

not sure, I'm not a suspension guru, but, the stock tires cupped bad. I had my suspension set up for me and have had zero issues with cupping, and I'm on my 7th set of tires since. I have a buddy that is AWESOME at setting up suspensions, after he did his magic it felt 100 lbs lighter.

I really like the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT, the Pilot Road 2 last longer. This time I went with the

taller rear 190-55-17. Road my friends 14 with the PP2CT and the 55 series taller rear and turns Much quicker.

Really.if you like the turns this is a good move. My Pilot Road 2 lasted 6500 miles (no Burn outs) The Avon Storms are

another good choice to for a 14.
