FJR 1300

Went to the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach today, and demo'd a handful of bikes. Favorite was the Yamaha FJR 1300. Comfortable, nimble yet stable, and reasonably quick. Throttle response was kind of snatchy in Sport mode, but smoothed out considerably in Tour mode. Felt like it could have used another 30 horsepower though...

Had a fjr once and loved it sold it because two up just was not good in my opinion. Now that I have a stratoliner all set up for the wife I, I would love to have an fjr again. I have set up my ninja with a center stand, givi trunk and heated grips but it is just not as comfortable as the fjr. I loved the adjustable windshield also. Fjr was plenty fast, yes the zx is faster but fjr is not slow by any means. Really don't think I could get the wife to buy in on a zx trade for a new fjr, especially since my zx is paid for. http://i1.wp.com/www.asphaltandrubber.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/2016-Yamaha-FJR1300-03.jpg

ohiomailman, I'd suggest test riding both. I've never ridden a Connie, and I've only had a few minutes experience on the FJR, so I'm not the expert here. But I'd have to say that unless the Concours offers electronic suspension too, then the FJR might have an edge. Bottomline, though: if you bleed Kawi green, get the Concours and stay in the family.

Still, there must be a reason some of the top long-distance riders choose the FJR. It's a sweet ride, no doubt in my mind.

I would go with the FJR. I owned a 2012 Concours 14 ABS, and while it was a great motorcycle, with tons of power, it was top heavy and handled poorly at low speed.

The FJR has very neutral handling, plus it has a lot of things the C14 doesn't, like factory cruise control and better suspension.

Nobody in the Concours Owners Group (cog-online.org) who has switched to a FJR has switched back. That should tell you something.
