One inch bar riser problem
06/11/09 3:47 PM

Hi,
Has anyone installed a pair of the one inch bar risers and had the problem of the windshield bolt hitting the rubber boot by the throttle grip, when the bars are turned all the way left? Two Phillips head bolts hold that unit in place. Can I loosen them and rotate that unit forward to just clear the bottom of the windshield bolt?

I've had a clearance problem at the shield. But I could not move that fairing more than where it sat. So you may need to modify the bars or bolts so they clear. You can also block the fork lock to stop right up to the point of contact.

Usually a bumper type of rubber cushion and then use a good glue like, GOOP glue. I push this stuff only because it cleans up well as if you never glued anything and works pretty good too.

So, I would work a cushion at the hinge if I had a clearance problem every so close.

Thanks for the info. Hub. I'll look into that. I probably should have bought the 3/4" risers, but I wanted to raise the bars as much as possible. Hindsight is always 20 20. Thanks again,......

I made my bar risers out of 1-1/2" sections of 2" schedule 80 PVC pipe. I had to modify the reservoir containers and mounting with a pair of pliers and no interference. The PVC had to be slightly bored out with a lathe.

That "extra" windshield is the Laminar Lip. I put spacers on mine to raise it another inch. Goes farther than a Double Bubble while retaining the stock windscreen:
