I just ran a search on Google for "zx-14 forums", which is a keyword that we've been running an AdWords ad for since we started about a month ago.

Take a look at the results for this search:

Notice the top ad on the right side for bikeland? Ours is right under it (they apparently bid more than I did). Notice any similarities in the wording of the ad?

So much for original thinking...

I changed our ad as soon as I saw this, but I thought you might enjoy it. They must be feeling a little heat from us (?).

Nope bg, its pretty much always about money. I don't know how many thousands of dollars this guy spent to get his broken website to come up #1 in search for Google, but I can guarantee you its not cheap! Or every single site would be trying it. Think it through: why spend that much money unless you are hoping to reap in the profits that the old website made???

They are basically proving they are in it for the money. Maybe they're just trying to get you to raise your bid amount. Or maybe they're 12. If people get tired of having their threads arbitrarily edited or locked or deleted they'll go find a better forum. I say just let 'em pay for it, your site shows up in the natural listings so people can still find it if they want.

Did you notice the new photos at the top of our pages? We started out with some general Kawasaki stock photos, but we have enough good photos now from the folks here that I put a new top image together. I'll be changing these from time to time.

If I were involved in Bikeland's forums, and I saw my main competitor go down, and I saw some of its members coming to me and others going somewhere else that might actually be a better fit for them, one thing I would do is to disable PMs for a while. That way the folks who found us wouldn't have a way to tell those who hadn't.

Just a theory. It'll be very interesting to see how this plays out.

I suspect that some will prefer Bikeland. Different "atmosphere". Different attitudes. As long as we can attract the best of the best, I'll be happy. -bg

I agree on save your money and time and make this a better forum with more features like read new posts since last visit. Of course pictrue quality and ease of use is always big.

BG, my advice, it's a free world out there. I have been also member of BL since 2005. Have not posted there too much, but I do visit periodically. There are few good members there, and, I have met Fish, personally. Truly a nice guy.
It would be better to focus to make the site better, and make it another choice for ZX-14 owners to come to. Yes, there is little competition to grab as many members from ZX14ninja.com, but, everyone has an option to choose. No need to downplay the other guy, let it just take it's own course.

I have a logon at bikeland, I went there looking for Dubious. :)

Bikeland is the worst forum I've ever seen for trying to find anything.

This site has so far (for me at least) proved to be clean and simple and if everyone stays pretty much on topic and shows a bit of respect for all, those that don't fit will drift away. Those that stay will spread the word and if grown organically, this site will thrive. I'll spread the word amongst those I know. I'm starting to feel right at home already.
