In case anyone else is lookin to do something similar, I did the LSL conversion several years ago, but never installed bar end weights as the handle bars were hollow with no threads. I looked for conversion inserts, different bar end weights, etc. A guy at the store mentioned that most of the dirt bikes simply use a piece of rubber that gets squished to hold it in place and it occurred to me that I could do the same thing.
So, I bought a couple of bolts, 2-4 washers, and a couple of nuts from the hardware store. Picked up a piece of rubber fuel line (figured it would hold up better) and vola, I'm using the stock bar end weights on my hollow handle bars! The stock weights I found are WAY heavier, nicer and cheaper than anything else I could find; I also found it made a BIG difference in the vibrations through the bars.
If you're curious, prerequisites:the bolt must fit through the weight, have an inside head (hex/allen key required) and be long enough to fit the rest of the components, but have enough thread so that the nut will still work, the nut MUST fit EXACTLY inside the bar so that if you turn the bolt, the nut does NOT turn (easier done than said actually). The washers must fit inside the bar but using the largest possible the better. The rubber hose should be about 3/4" to 1" in length (adjust according to your bolt length if you want) and should be slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the bar.
So it assembles as: Bolt through weight, the washer(s), rubber hose, washer, nut. Slide the thing in as far as you can go, and tighten the bolt until the rubber gets compressed to the point where it grabs onto the inside of the bar. Don't over tighten as it will just push the whole assembly out of the bar. It was really a lot easier to do then explain and the hardest parts were finding the right piece of hose and trial & error on the bolt length.
