I ordered a set of V35's and the Motech racks from Twisted Throttle on March 8th... Just got off the phone with them 5 minutes ago and the bags are going out today 3/26 and the racks won't be in until MAY 2nd!!! Huh??!? That could throw a wrench into any long-distance trip planning. Good thing I haven't decided on the dates for my Colorado trip or anything. It seems I'll have the side cases here waiting to install but no carriers for over a month. Bummed.

This is the type of ad I was looking for a few weeks earlier, you'll find a buyer no problem. If they were a bit cheaper I'd be interested but for roughly $800 all new I think I'd go thru Twisted Throttle again. Assuming they're in stock, of course

I don't know what it is, but there must be some difference in the racks for the 14R and those for the older models. Maybe a difference in the subframe? Otherwise, TT would be able to provide your racks in a more timely manner.

The owner's been offered $400 (50% of new price) and won't sell for that because these have had very little use and are in excellent condition.

Bradley, are racks specific to the 2012 and newer ZX14R's going to be available through Twisted Throttle after May 2 or are you going to use the racks designed for the 06-11 bikes?
Thanks, Hank

Danno - I'll keep this ad in mind (if they don't sell before then) if Twisted Throttle pushes that date out on me one more time... I've had my order placed since the 8th of March, and the $$ was withdrawn that day. So in my opinion when you buy a product that is advertised as 'IN STOCK' from a business located in the U.S. that it shouldn't take 2 months to receive. Very disappointed.

Hank - I don't want to hijack the thread, but as far as I know they only manufacture and sell one set, which is listed for the Kawasaki Ninja ZX14 model 06-11 years. These racks have already been used on the newer ZX14R models from 2012+ however.....ONLY if you've got aftermarket exhaust or lowered your factory exhaust to clear the V35's when installed. Really simple, and a non-issue for most riders since we all choose to use aftermarket exhaust anyways.

According to TT there is no sign of a new set of racks being designed to raise the V35's up to work with an all-stock 2012 (that would make them not fit the bike as well besides). So this set of racks that Danno has listed are your only option regardless of what year you have. Hope this helps...

Bradley

If the rear section is wider, the only part that wouldn't work would be the bar that attaches to the plate holder/fender and I think that could be easily lengthened.

Unless the position of the footpeg hangers where the racks attach is the same. In that case, the racks would have to have a different bend and offset to clear the bodywork.

I may have a chance to make some measurements in May if someone shows up with an R and I can compare.

If lowering the pipes is the issue, here's the solution. I had to lower my slip-ons a bit to clear the bags:

As you can see, the chnge in can angle isn't too extreme:

Here's an old thread about mounting V35s to a 12R:
