Delkevic 8" mini installed
01/15/16 8:13 PM

Today I installed Delkevic 8" minis. I am very pleased with the way they look and sound. I installed them without the optional baffles included. They have a nice deep throaty sound at low RPM'S and have a nice growl on acceleration. While cruising at highway speeds they aren't excessively load. The fit and finish is excellent; I would say better than some slip-ons that cost a lot more.

I'll get some pictures later. It was kind of cloudy today. I tried to upload before and after videos to photobucket so I could post them here but the uploads failed. If I can get them uploaded I will post the links.

I was looking at some of these on a 14 recently and was quite impressed with the build quality and finish. They looked really trick but were way too loud for my taste. I'm guessing they didn't have the baffles in though.

I love my Delkevic. If you think 8" is too loud, try 18". Even without baffle, it is mellow and deep sound.

Sounds like it's 'hunting' a bit in that 2nd vid with the DKV's, or is it me?

It is hunting a bit until it fully warms up. Once it warms up fully it settles into a normal rhythm. I noticed it takes a little longer for it to come down off fast idle at start up. I am also getting some decal pop.

Symptomatic of lean running although decal pop can also be caused by a bad seal in the exhaust system. Might be worthwhile getting the fuelling checked out.

Bike runs the same. I know it's common people think the decel pops are caused by the modified exhuast. This isn't true. Listen carefully with the stock exhaust the same decel pops are present (not sure if you can hear this in the video, but in person for sure), the sound is just suppressed by the mufflers. But if you listen very carefully you can hear what sounds more like a gurgling sound.

^^ I've heard the same thing. Decel pops were big topics with the Gen 1 and some people claimed they happened with the stock exhaust but you probably wouldn't notice it.

Personally, I think that's the coolest sound in the world if it's reasonable under control. Nothing wrong with a split second crack between gears on a hot day or a few pops after a downshift. I'm going to tune for it if I lose it with auto tune.

I'm going to beg to differ here guys as I have the OE cans on my 2012 and can say that I definitely do NOT have ANY popping on overrun/decel from any revs or any speed. Popping or backfiring through the exhaust can damage cat converters so a standard setup should be glitch free. My big single dirt bike with modified exhaust and fuelling on the other hand.....

Once you get to cruising speed they really aren't too loud.

I had these before my Brocks full system great slipons for a great price. No power gains really. But lose angood amount of weight and sound very good without baffles
