14r frame sliders
01/12/12 5:49 PM

Searched the forums n couldn't find anything so I figured I'd post.

The guys with the new 14r! Any particular frame slider choices? Pros, cons, comments? Concerns? I'm looking into getting a set soon and wanted opinions! Thanks in advance!

LSL sliders are highly recommended for the 14. They have a nylon cushion over the billet slider and the whole thing is attached to its own bracket which mounts by 2 bolts for each side. They are expensive but if you are going to go with frame sliders on the 14, that is the way to go.

The plastic post sliders are likely to break your frame if you fall. They might even cause severe damage in a 0 mph tip over.

IDK if LSLs have been created for the r yet. They have had them for the Gen 1 for years. Each bike has a bracket design that was designed for the bike for optimum protection.

I'm prolly going to be ordering some LSLs tomorrpow as a matter of fact.

Thanks Rook! It doesn't show any listing with the 14r unfortunately.. Which from it being a new bike I figured that, wish I could compare an older ones mounting location to the 14r.. Ohh well guess I'll have to wait and keep looking around

The delrin tube shaped sliders like Seno's are almost weightless, I'm sure and I do believe they still would hold up to one crash. I here the bolts often bend which softens the impact of a fall. Personally, I think they look good too.

IMO, the most likely tip over is the one in the garage or parking lot when you are on the bike and just forget to put the kickstand down (done that to mine) or you stop and put your foot down in a hole. It's probable that you will soften the impact of he bike dropping if you are near it. It is perhaps foolish but a natural impulse to hold onto a cherished object to protect it, even at risk to ourselves. I sacrificed some knee pain for my tip over but it really saved a huge amount of damage to the bike.

Point is, if simply being close to the bike prevents so much damage in a 0 mph drop, it prolly is not crucial wether you have $40 delrin sliders or $125 LSLs. If you are going to crash at speed, go with LSLs or nothing.

Right, I'm really looking at something that will save me alittle in case of a slow speed drop.. Soo it looks like the delrins would be the best bet to me. Will see how it goes

Muzzys in a comparison I read recently were best sliders available for the 14, they fit all years. Aluminum base with sliders which are bolted onto base with some stupid strength bolts... Not cheap but quality usually is not
