Hey guys, just a quick review.
I bought the CAT 8M-4991 fuel O-Ring to use as a throttle lock on my 14R. The idea is that it sits on the end of the bar end, and when you want cruise you simply roll it between the bar end and throttle grip.
While the initial gap was a bit too wide between the bar end and the grip, a little time spent working it down closed it up nicely. Once the ring is rolled into place, it holds the throttle nicely with the amount of friction it provides. The throttle can still be turned, so there isn't really any safety concern. It's also fairly easy to roll back out when you've cruised to your favorite twisty bit of road and want the throttle to snap back. The occasional readjustment is necessary if you use it for many miles, but that's to be expected with a friction style lock. All in all a great $3 spent!!
Below is a generic picture of how the ring (in yellow) works. Not my bike, but you get the idea.
