Just plunked down the cash for a 2009 ZX10R the other day! It's totally stock and has only 254 miles on the clock!!! And it's the rare orange colored one! I plan to hone (and when I say hone, I really mean GAIN) some track skills with it - hopefully in Sep when I get back in from A'stan this time around! I have already been make my wish list of mods for it, focusing first on handling and brakes, go fast goodies not too much of a priority at first, but will come in time! I was trying to post pics of it, but for some reason I can't upload anymore pics (little pop up window is pretty full and I upload pics, but they never show up there!!!!). As soon as I find a way, I will put up the few pics my wife took of it on the dealer's floor. Cost me about $8100 OTD... Maybe a little steep on price? But then again, it's not even broken in yet! And I had the cash available, so what the hell! Can't wait to ride it!

DK - I have been seriously thinking about the BMW, but in the end I grabbed this one. Maybe sometime in the future. There's supposed to be a HP4 version of the S1KR coming out soon, that might drive the prices down a little on the "regular" ones - we will see. I love the BMW Motorsport color scheme also - the one I would pick!

Here are some updated pics of my 2009 ZX10R, coming along pretty nicely with newly installed Akra Evo Slip-on, gutted cat from stock headers, Speedo-healer, CRG Levers, Rear fender eliminator, Yoshi Frame Sliders, and a few more mods coming really soon! Starting to shape up pretty nicely! Next up, full Bazzaz treatement, velocity stacks, braided steel brake lines...

Nice little track weapon.

Yup - shaping up pretty nicely! But the tires gotta GO! Those stock Bridgestone's suck - they do not convince me that they hold on to the road at all in turns. Had a couple of sphincter tightening moments on a backroad pushing only about 90 in a bend and the rear slipped noticeably a couple of times! Getting a new set of Michelin's spooned on when I get a chance.

Thanks Grn! Now that I have choices, I find myself picking the 10R more and more when I ride. That thing is a blast! Hadn't had a chance to dyno it yet (waiting until it's completely finished) but it really has some balls and it's nimble as hell! I know it ain't no state of the art S1KRR, but it still has a VERY high fun factor to it, plus it's paid for!!!!

Mine is a Gen 3 (2008-2010)- no need to change out the front calipers for that model. They're actually the same calipers used on the current ZX10Rs and are every bit as good as the ZX14s Nissins. They'll do one finger stoppies all day long! Yeah, been looking into new rotors/pads also, just didn't include them on the want list because stopping isn't a problem right now, but will be a priority once a track day gets closer. You're selling your front calipers? What are you replacing them with? Brembo?

No prob with the bulbs, I like the extra light they give, but I didn't change the running lights either. There are supposed to be some bulbs for those that will match the color and output of the headlights, forgot the numbers for them will see if I can find though.

Yup they were already up to the Gen 3 in 2008... I kinda wish the looks of the new one would have went more towards how the current ZX6R looks - that thing is sweet! But yeah, I was looking a Brembo calipers and the MC, I could get the calipers for about $800.... We'll see later on down the line. Got some stuff working that might pay off in the end...

The MC will give the most improvement in my opinion. The calipers will come into play only when you start racing at the expert level but they are sweeet (especially the nickel plated ones) plus I just the like the idea of having better bolt ons that more expensive European and Italian bikes! MotoMummy has the best price for the RCS19 ($305).

I could see riding your 10 more than the big ninja....the big bird can get 'weighty' after a bit.Especially if you're doing a lot of faster sharper cornering...yup.Someday I'll have to ride a 10....just to feel what all you guys are talking about;)Ride safe...

Grn - I think that shape is to help with clearance for some of the exhaust system components - when the bike was stock, there was a big ass pre-chamber under there (weighed a ton!)and it fit right in that spot under the bike.

Appreciate it - yeah, I did find myself hopping on it more than the 14, not really because the 14 feels heavy to me in any way (I am pretty big at 6'3" and +220lbs) - the 14 feels just right to me until you get to something really tight... But the 10 is just so much freakin' fun cuz you can toss it around so easily, very twitchy, but fast as hell! Even if the wife does say I look like a bear riding a tricycle, I love it! If KHI, had done a little more to work out the chassis and made it just a tad bit prettier - they would have really had something!

Yup - you're right about that DK! I would have already been to the track more than once, but my schedule here in Afghanistan has changed a lot since they've been talking drawdown. So much so that I keep missing events that are reasonably close to the area. I plan for something, then I have had to change my travel plans, which blows any other plans I made. It should settle down in a bit though, and before too long it won't matter cuz I'll be home for good and I can ride all I want!

Yup, kinda like I did when I first got out of the Military (Army) about 14 years ago... Felt like I had just go released from prison... So much had changed that I didn't have the time to keep up with.
