Non OEM Fuel Pump
11/04/18 11:35 PM

I'm wondering if anyone here has used an aftermarket replacement fuel pump from The Fuel Pump Factory? It is so much cheaper than OEM (OEM costs more than $500AUD here in Aust) I'm wondering if it's a case of being too good to be true.

Cheers.

If the pump runs, it's more the fuel filter. That's more the problem. That black piece of plastic holds some fine filtering before that gas goes to the injectors. And if this gets clogged up, yeah, you can try all the backwashing you want, but the OEM is the only fix... unless you can find that filter new. Forget about buying used. A low miler if you can find it, sure.

A few buds of mines who race at the track have had great luck using the Schnitz Racing Pumps. I think they were selling for less than $100.00 last week.

55 & still feeling the need for speed.

Here is good write up with lots of pics of what the Kawasaki Fuel pump filter looks like and how to replace it.

0521 kawi kit; 2016 and up.
0013 kawi filter alone.

Suz:https://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/suz/506b359bf870022ba8af9d65/fuel-pump
ZX:https://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/kaw/56e730a887a8660e60bbe26d/fuel-pump

For what it's worth;
The connie filter [0013] came from what bike I don't know, didn't read it, just walked thru the pics. And too, this is a 2014 thread so from what bike '014 on down, I researched a little. No, didn't match the 0013, just wondering if this is in the kit 0521? Kit wise it gives you this style filter [0013] and replacement orings.

Year wise, 2015 and on down; only the pump is the replacement part. However, 2016 begins the 0521 rebuild kit. Notice filter for the busa was the filter I thought was inside the kawi pump? Note whatever year connie this is, that filter is a match to the kit, not the black cartridge type like the busa pump I was thinking of.

So now I'm thinking that just an 0013 filter change can be cleaned or swapped out, if the pump can still push the pressure out. Again, this is according to not seeing the black cartridge in the pics.

Can you rebuild the ZX pump?
Yes: If the 0013 can be matched to any pump.
No: If the 14 pump is styled with said suz type cartridge as used for its filter. In other words...

... Only peeking at the pump knows for sure.

I probably should have bought one from Schnitz and given it a try, but took the OEM replacement route as I had a trip coming up (it's now summer Down Under)and needed the bike sorted quickly. The old fuel pump (approx 55K miles on it) filter was clogged with black stuff, had rust in it, the brushes were very worn and the plastic impeller was badly scored.

A Mitsubishi product.

The 0013 filter is available from Partzilla as a part for a Kawasaki Mule, so it is used across some diverse models!

As for the ride that I was prepping for, you can read about it HERE
