600 Mile Service?
06/29/11 3:47 AM

All-

Well...a week from the day I picked her up, I am ready to schedule my 600 mile service with the dealer. I was wondering what I could expect in terms of cost? It's been a long time since I paid anyone to work on one of my bikes, but I know the shop and I know that they will be much "nicer" about the warranty if they have records of maintenance. Aside from that, the 1st one is pretty important. Anyone gone through this recently?

Thanks-

I purchased a maintenance contract when I purchased the bike. So I cannot help you there.

You might be able to still get one, they often let you buy one at the same price within a few months.

Its worth it, mine is about to finish paying for it. Taking mine in one of the major services where they do virtually everything and it will be free.

Cha-Ching!

Allthough mine was here it was mainly to rid it of the infected run-in oil plus the filter then a general check up (bolts/nuts etc) just last year, it came to $260 at the same (1000kms) service, good luck mate it's just lower than a "minor service" in $$$$$

I skipped all maintainance. The warranty is long gone and AFAIC, if there was a problem, I wouldn't have a dealership fix it anyway.

Don't think they will check all of the things they are supposed to. They won't have time to get all the fairings off. You can do all of the checks yourself.....but if you think Kawi will honor a warranty.......and you are willing to spend an extra couple grand between now and the time the warranty expires...........? I looked and those odds and saw a picture of mods come up in my brain.

My busa needs to have the rectifier changed because some original factory installed units are defective. It is a recall and if the work is free, I will begrudgingly have them do it for me but if I can buy a rectifier for under a hundred bucks, I'll find out how to do it myself.

My dealer has darn good service techs. I know one of the personally, have for years. They do everthing the service chart tells them to do. And it doesn't take them long.

I guess when you know what you are doing, it goes pretty fast.

Privateer-

Are you saying the "extended warranty" through Kawasaki is paying for your maintenance service calls?? Or when you refer to maintenance contract are you referring to something different?
I paid the money for the extended warranty. Never did that before, but I was in a hurry, and didn't think it through entirely. I guess for the 15 dollars a month it is peace of mind, but I kind of regret it. I justified it since I plan on having this a long while. I kept my Busa for 6 years. I bet this one will be around just as long.

^^There is a member at bikeland who hit 80,000 miles yesterday on his '06. He said it still feels just as strong as ever and he routinely does 180 mph on it. I think i could keep mine 10 years pretty easily. Only thing is that I believe gas is going to be priced outrageously at that time and all cars are going to be electric. Bikes too.
