Has anyone formed...

I am looking to block off the ram air inlet. Has anyone formed a plastic cover/window for the ram air inlet, that blends/curves with the contour of the bike?

Hey JC I was considering what to do with my now useless ram air vents as well. I wasn't sure whether to block them off in back and have that big scoop of dead-end pressurized air holding me back....or let them blow through to maybe help cool the engine abit? You'r right tho, if you're going to block them off, do it by covering the ram air opening flush with the front fairing....that'll be the cleanest aerodynamically. I might leave mine open for now to see how well the extra air keeps the motor and me cool through the summer.......heck I might even try and put abit of ducting on to direct the air down onto the motor more

Bad,

Yes, I think removing the ram air ducting has helped keep things cooler up front, but I was just a little worried if I hit a strong rain storm... I have a lot of wiring just inside/under the top left and right side covers... right now the only thing left of the ram air is the opening. I also removed the rubber collar from the back of the opening.

so the detector cover will help end that worry...

but, as I think, it might be easier to find an old aero dynamic side mirror shell, large enough to install the detector, gut it, and mount it beside/below one of the mirrors, or on the arm.... or ?

forming a contoured cover for the ram air, in metal is easy enough, but in plastic is another thing. Unless I can form plastic over the metal w/o it sticking/

Asdvantage of the V 1 in a mirror shell is I keep both front and rear detectors functional... in the ram air... nope.

You're a very creative guy, if you come up with something you like let me know, I may copy your ingenuity I think for now I'm going to leave the ram air ducting in place, and maybe just put some tips on the ends to direct the air down towards the engine more. With the front wide open I can see your concerns about moisture tho.

I have noticed without the ram air ducting, I can hear the engine resonate through the frame like an acoustic guitar. :)

i made storage compartments out of my ram air tubes ... i blocked off the inlet on the tubes itself were it can't be seen from outer fairing ..

There certainly is a lot of room in there. My lunch could fit in there. I wish someone made a storage kit.

Storage kit is my next project, but likely not there.
