Light bulb!
05/07/17 6:47 AM

It occurred to me that I have a nitrous kit on my old drag bike (a 2007 GSXR 1000)....I think I need to fit this to the ZX in order to get it up into the mph range my turbo bike buddies are at the track. I`m a couple mph short of 150 mph unlowered, unstrapped, just a tune and slipons. I`d like to shoot 40 into and I`d hope that`d put me in the high 150s. Hmmmmmm :)

I hope I have time/$$ to play with mine this summer. All set to tune and have the NOS installed. just need to mount a bottle. ....and buy more tires.

I'm just wondering HTF this happens and I hope it doesn't happen to me. Too much spray/wrong map?? spray trapped in air box?? how does that catch fire?

Wet kit puddling and all it takes is a moderate ignition source, with all that extra O from the N20 lying around. Believe me, I've seen some pretty mean nitrous backfires at the track. When stuff goes wrong with spray, it's often spectacular.

I shoot dry, which is simpler and safer in some ways but, ultimately limited in power potential.

I've had my dry kit installed for two years and haven't used it yet. I guess what you mentioned are all the reasons I went with dry.

How is it that dry is limited compared to wet? I don't think I will ever go for more than a 60 shot but I thought I was only limited by the size of the solenoid I use.

something tells me that guy knew something wasn't right before he did his run. He took off like 1 full second after the green light.

With dry, you are reliant on the injectors to add the extra fuel needed. ZX14Rs only have four so, with big shots, you need a big injector and that really makes rideability go away. Wet, you add fuel through dedicated fuel lines and sometimes even a dedicated fuel system.

A 60 is fine dry but, that's the max I'd shove at this thing unless you went with internal mods like, at least, heavier valve springs.

It's possible he was bracket racing and had a set gap....or he just f'd up :)

Ah, yes that's what I was told 2 years ago. Romans was running turbo with 300 hp without engine building. He was determined to find the limit of the stock engine. I guess I will cross that bridge when/if I get there.
