So, I finally got my screen in from Germany. The box was crushed and part of the windshield was poking out of the side. Needless to say, I was worried.

I took photos as I was opening the box, just in case I had a dispute on my hands, but the shield was perfectly fine inside.

Now, the question. It came with this cover panel thing, which is for what? To protect the gauge cluster from the sun or something?

That sounds like a solid idea, but if I line it up with the holes, it looks like it's going to cover up part of the vent holes and look like hell.

Besides, the lower part of the screen is already solid black, nothing is getting through there anyway. Is that cover meant for the clear shield? Should I even bother installing it?

I opted not to use the cover piece. I think it looks just fine without it. I can see how it might help protect the gauges a bit more in really directly sunlight, but I think the benefit would be minimal. I also did not install that rubber end piece on the edge. It looks out of place and doesn't feel like it would stay put very well, anyway.

First, you sir have giant pictures. I do not need my glasses to see them!

Second, that's prob MRA's version of what Puig does to their screen, seen below, which mimics the OEM screen. But I myself wouldn't use that piece MRA provided if it's gonna cover the holes; how silly. I'd either add a piece of window tint to the inside of your new screen ... or mask a line across it and spray paint it flat black.

The new screen is already painted black and fades to light smoke right where the gauges end. I have a feeling that the cover piece was intended for the clear screen, which I think is completely clear.

Google used to let you specify a photo size in the URL, which would allow me to shrink them down to the 800px limit for this forum. This forum is the only one that has trouble with them, so I'm not going to resize them for one place. It's easier to provide direct links and/or just open the image in a new browser tab, IMO.
