Anyone have the Geelong Tank Protector?
11/06/13 6:12 PM

These are made in Austrailia. I was thinking of the small version for my bike. My primary concern would be getting the stock rubber tank protector off without effin up the paint.

Just curious as to whether anyone has tred one, what do you think of it?

Thx

Dragking has one on his 07. It is the large one, IU believe (covers as much as a tank bra). He was very happy with it.

Get advise on the removal of the OEM tank protector. A heat gun on an empty tank should do it. I hear those suckers are really stuck on there.

Have you seen TechSpec? I have that on my 08 and it would go very well with the Gen 2 OEM tank guard. I do like the Gelong protector as well.

I had one on my 2012, it was the small not that impressed with it. I now have a clever wolf one on my tank, much happier with that. Be careful there are different ones for earlier models and 12 onwards have more of a cutout as the tank letters are in a different place. Clever Wolf can be purchased from J Parts in Japan, very helpful.

I rate the quality of the Geelong Carbon Craft gear as A1.
I have had many pieces from them and none have had quality issues.
The service from them has been awesome. The stuff is all carbon as well.
Not some of the 20 80 garbage getting around.
You need large on these tanks because you tend to climb around on the bike a lot.
The factory pad is well stuck on but can be defeated if your committed.

Get on it....

Thanks...always good to hear different opinions. The Clever Wolf is nice looking, similar to the Geelong. I need to look at the Techspec. Appreciate the replies.
