HOW TO MAKE A PLATFORM FOR THE PIT BULL TRAILER RESTRAINT FOR USE IN U-HAUL TRAILER

If anyone would like to have a whack at this, the Gen2 ZX-14 is about 1 inch shorter in wheelbase than the Gen2 busa.

I will be hauling the 14 with this soon. If I need to do any alterations, I'll post about it. For me, probably just drill a second set of holes in the deck and move the wheel chock back and inch. For you, just move the trailer restraint mounting plate forward an inch and this should fit your Gen1 ZX-14. The wheel chock allows for about a half inch variation in wheelbase.

Does anyone remember the conversation we had going 4 years ago about this very topic? Sometimes I have these things cooking in my head for years. I searched but couldn't find the thread. Whoever the guy was who built something nearly identical to this back then, THANKS for all the ideas. Your comments came back to me as I was planning and building this.

Thank you Nasty. Bought a set of TRS pins for the 14 and will be hauling her down after Aug 17.

Damn they charge you $100 for a set of pins!! Almost bought a whole new second TRS but I see they sell TRSs without pins. You come out about $40 behind but that;s not worth buying a whole second TRS I might or mightn't ever use.

I'd love to have a 18 foot trailer with two or tree bikes on Pit Bulls but hard to say if that will ever happen.

Here’s how the 14 ended up working with the Pit Bull Trailler Restraint, Wheel Chock and platform in the U-Haul motorcycle trailer.

With the trailer restraint and wheel chock mounted where I put them for my 08 Hayabusa, the 08 ZX-14 came forward about 1/4” less as expected. You can see the pencil line I drew for the position of the wheel chock with the Hayabusa. The 2008 ZX-14 pushes the wheel chock forward 1/4” less.

The bolts and spacers still hold the wheel chock down and the front tire holds it in position.

It doesn’t make much difference but you can mount the wheel chalk as described in the tutorial linked in the OP and move the position of the trailer restraint forward 1/4” to accommodate the shorter wheelbase of the Gen1 ZX-14.

I also changed the way I strapped the center D-rings since those straps were so short, they were difficult to tighten. Instead of placing one hook on the platform D-ring and one on the trailer D-ring, I looped the strap through the trailer D-ring and put both hooks on the platform D-ring. I also do this with the center straps in front. I didn’t need to tighten any of the straps the whole way except the handlebar straps on the Canyon Dancers which I do not want to make very tight anyway.
