Hubster, had an unfortunate off road excursion Thursday morning on my 2006 ZX-14, found out it doesn't like dirt surfing!

Checking on a new lower cowling, the flat spark black one, all the online Kawasaki vendors are showing part unavailable.

Are they kidding? That is probably the most common part to get scuffed up in an accident and the bike is 10 years old, not 25 years, so shouldn't these parts be still available? Every other part on the bike is available, all the other cowls and fairing, just not the lowers.

Order the painted ones off a later model maybe or does this mean just temporarily on back order?

I checked all the way up to the 2009 ZX14, I believe the lower cowls are identical other than color, none available.

I'm guessing this is a common crash part and they are sold out temporaily, it makes no sense that all other fairings and cowlings are available for these bikes, just no lowers.

I had to replace mine about two years ago on my 2006 and ran into the same problem. This part # was an exact match.

Kruz, we are blowing time between dr. appointments so we enter a bike shop. We look around, salesman rolls a new bike past us. Minutes go by, salesman and new bike owner are walking to the bike, I overhear him say to the customer, 'we match internet prices.' So the story goes something like this:

I'm going on the net to find the lowest price website.
I'm going to write down the part number, price, website.
I'm going to the dealer because they can look up who/what/where/when it's coming; even backorder lead time possibly.
I'm going to save shipping because the parts are shipped with other 'parts is parts.'
I'm going to research till me fingers wipe the print off the keyboard keys.

A lot of parts are unavailable. I just bought some bolts and it took about two weeks. Ask if it is just a matter of shipping from Japan and if it is, you just wait a while until they come in.

Thanks to the rest of you guys, I'll try Bike Bandit and the new P/N.

Luckily this was a fairly minor furball compared to the last one two years ago where I wadded myself and the bike up pretty good.

I'm fine and the bike needs a couple of fairings and a mirror, farm tractor decided to park with a mowing attachment in the middle of the road on a blind corner exit, I chose to take an off-road excursion rather than hit the mower blades. Could have been really nasty. Farmer Jones fled the scene of the accident when he saw me go down, driving an unlicensed motor vehicle on the road, can't blame him.

If I can't get it over here that is definite option.

If it's not cracked I'd spray it flat black and slap it back on. Do some sanding and polishing first and it will look new.

They have it backordered for me, no real rush.

If it's not cracked, I'd sand it and paint both semi-gloss black. 'course, if you don't have all the stuff, that's going to set you back $40 anyway.

Who posted they had the right lower cowl in perfect condition and then pulled their post down? I think he said he was asking $100?

I created a Partzilla account and got the above response on the part.

If you click on the part# where the price is shown it will take you to another screen that shows the part is accessible. If you were to call them they would verify that; however, it appears you have already purchased it, but keep that in mind in the future. Sometimes for some unknown reason they change the part# but regardless they can still get the part you need when you see that, unless it is for a real old bike.

Oh well, cancel if you can. Make sure Partzilla has it first of course.

eh--$20 bucks. Who cares at this point?

Part still hasn't showed up from Europe, I checked my account online and it said the part had been ordered last week but now it is not showing anything but that they have charged my credit card for the part....hmmm. Still waiting on a response from their customer support on what is going on.

BobZ, I just called Partzilla and they told me the part is unavailable, no longer in production and they do not have any information on a superseded part or when such a part would be available. I don't know where you are getting your information that the part is available under a different part number.
