Looking into possibly buying an akrapovic header for the 14r, already have slip ins that will work with it so I'm good to go there.
My question is is it really worth the extra cash or are the stock headers just as good?
Thanks in advance!

Getting ready to get a 14 in the next few days (if its still there) trying to get opinions because I hate the cans that come on it, glad that they put the cat converter in the cans rather than the pipe

@ cara - yeah man I hear ya, that's the first thing I did was get rid of mega mans arms lol, I like the two bros cuz I feel they aren't too big an match the bike decently, and they were for a really good price on XR50.com
@ Romans - I'm going to spray the bike till the motor goes then just do a total rebuild for boost. If in going to build a turbo bike ill go all in... If the motor goes within the warranty it's difficult to get them to warranty a motor with a snail on it haha. It's a lot easier to cover up nitrous.
So I figured if I go with spray then a header might be a decent gain, but I feel like if they stock header is just as good or 1-2 hp behind then ill just save the 500 for a extended arm

There is nothing wrong what so ever with OEM headers and slip on's for this bike, plus no need for any fuel manager. That said I have a Brocks full dual system and love it, but really isn't necessary.

Headers on my '07 and now on the '12 get all rusty and look like crap, IMO.
I would gladly have paid a bit more to Kawi if they had made the headers out of the same stuff the lowers and mid pipes are made of.
Don't hate it enough to go to the expense and trouble to rip them off and replace them though. If I hit them with some light oil or cleaner and wipe them clean, they will burn off the residue and look better..........for a while, at least.
I may be cheap or low (?) performance oriented, but no way I'm interested in paying 2 thou or more for 5 hp and 4 foot-pounds of torque............on top of over 190 and 110 respectively? What are we talking about? Maybe 3 to 5% increase?
If your racing for "pinks" or looking for a personal best at the strip, then more power to you; but for me, on the street it isn't needed or wanted at that cost. A good pair of slip ons and a tune, will do me fine.

The difference will be negligable, stick with what you have until you have to replace them.
