Since a few LEOs are concerned about Lic plate lites and I really dislike being stopped for trivial things , I have been searching for a way to put some lite on the plate.. Using the stock lite system means hanging the plate low and not what I wanted. I finally came across a pkg of 4 led fixtures that appeared to be what I was looking for. 12V too.\and slightly tapered..
I now have teh plate directly against the undertail and only had to make one very small hole in the undertail to accommodate the wiring .

Just an aside.....I got stopped in Utah once because teh reflecting stuff was worn off my plate ( it was very late at nite) .

Where did you get them? I have the Speed Tactics fe and it has a hole already drilled but I couldn't find a light I liked.

I got these at AutoZone, not sure if they are a chain out your way. If you want one of the lites, PM me a shipping address and I will get one to you.. I couldn't just buy one, had to get a package of 8 :)

If anyone is looking for a nice solution and hasn't installed a fender eliminator; I suggest this one. It uses existing holes and has the led light already included. I'm very happy with it.

EDIT - this is the small blue one (see link). I have the small black tail tidy. He also make them in a bunch of other colors, cf look, with and without light, and in a larger size for those with bigger plate requirements. plus heel guards and a few other items.

Here's what I did for the license plate light. I also installed a red blinking set of LEDs when I hit the brakes.

Looks like to separate sets of lites??

The silver plate holds a set of white LEDs for the tag and the ones behind it are red LEDs that flash when the brakes are applied.

Got it...

I had a pair of led plate lights that were intended to replace the mounting bolts. I put one through the OEM mudflap hole.

I have a pair of LED Litebolts that secure the plate. Only pita is the wires must be unplugged inside the tailpiece when removing the plate.

If you search ebay you can find the plate trim that has light built into the frame of the plate trim in black or chrome. The brand name is Radiantz and they work very well run one on all my bikes!
