Delkevic or Muzzy

I'm looking for opinions on a Muzzy slip on vs the Dekevic 8 inch. Can anyone comment on the db level between the two?

BigSarg,

I now have Delkevic (a long one) but tried Muzzy slip-on before. Muzzy, by the way had the same length as my current Delkevic, is way too loud, in fact, too loud to be used in densely populated area. I contacted Muzzy for their "special quiet core" but was told "the difference would be 3 to 4 db". I sold Muzzy and bought Delkevic. Delkevic is way quieter than Muzzy even without the included silencer. For motorcycle lovers Muzzy sound is great but for neighbors and other drivers, it is simply annoying noise.

Happy new year!

At 47 I think I'm pretty sensitive to noise. I have the Muzzy Stainless Black mufflers on mine, and they're "pretty loud". That's my imprecise description , but as an example, when my lady is sleeping and I start the bike in the garage I'm pretty darn sure it's probably disturbing her, at least a little. Of course that's a brief period, then I'm gone. But when idling in the garage it's more of a deep, bassy sound rather than the typical high-pitched crotch rocket.

I've asked my buddies how loud mine is, when they were parked at a gas station waiting for me and I came riding up. One comment was something like, 'I could hear this deep snarling bike, and it turned out to be you!' I said, 'Too loud, huh?' ... 'No! It sounded good! Deep!'

So, my Muzzy's def have some volume, although for me it's 'pretty much' acceptable. I certainly understand it wouldn't be for some.

I have the larger dekelvik and I love them. They are not loud at cruise but have a nice sound when you really get on it. Perfect in my opinion.

Our stock muffler is stamped 80 Decibels from the Factory.
I have Delkevic 18" Carbon Cans. They come with an insert that reduces the noise to 80 Decibels but take out the silencer and they are rated at 94 Decibels. At 94 they are still fairly quiet compared to Muzzy.
Delkevic's Midpipe has a welded stopper for the centerstand (which I have added).
My Delkevic pipe/muffler weigh 6.5 lb. each. Stock Bazooka muffler/pipe weighs 17.5 lb. each.

Suzy1052 is selling Two B slipon in the For Sale section. Price is great as it basically the same price as my Delkevic. I am pretty certain Two B is louder than Delk but I think they sell some quiet insert.

Just to put something in perspective here, a single cicada bug can put out 120db. If nature can do it, the neighbors can suck it. Mine is going to be loud, cause loud is safe, and loud is fast. Unless its a Harley.

Just had to register to say this is the best reasoning for a loud exhaust I have ever heard. But I dont own a zx14 so nice to meet you, I'm off now. Bye.

Several years ago, the City and County of Denver passed an Ordinance pertaining motorcycle exhaust. You can be stopped and written a ticket if you DO NOT have the OEM exhaust in place. Don't annoy the General Public, our choices could be taken away.
If you are driving through Denver, keep it off the Pipe.
