Not trying to be a name dropper, just personal experience with the subject... This being many decades ago, no one was standing around Jay when he caught my eye at the rock store biker hangout. I walked up to him and said something like, 'thanks for going to the state capital trying to stop the mandatory helmet law for us'. He extended his hand first and said something like 'we tried'. No air about the guy. Surprisingly approachable, friendly, and outgoing. Next time I saw Jay was when he rode to shop I was working at. Remember, this is pre-garage days. Shop had me do something to Jay's Brough Superior. Probably just bought it maybe? He waited for it and don't remember the repair. Jay then walked from the showroom to the back and handed me a tip for working on it. I thought that was pretty cool. Next time I saw Jaw was at a car show. Drove into the show with that long aluminum polished car with a plane engine in it? Everyone surrounded him and/or the car. I was at a distance but you could hear the crowd rolling once he got out of the car and started to answer questions. A real naturally funny guy.
