Lower operating temperatures and increased mileage, less buzz!
08/04/12 6:08 AM

OK long story short, Had my ECU flashed with Ivan's flash and got to say that my bike is definitely running cooler and smoother. Yesterday I took a ride to see Ivan and I got stuck in bad traffic, turned an hour ride into 2 hours 10 minutes (it was about 90 and humid too...just disgusting riding weather). Well my bike stayed at 199 or below in stop and go traffic but I went through 3/4 tank of gas. When I got up there he loaded his map in which is the smoothest map I have had in my bike yet (let's not turn this into a map thread please but I have had street maps, track maps, custom maps, etc in my PCV already), and here is the kicker.... Took me 2 hours to go back last night in traffic (when there was no traffic I was hammering it going 90+).... I only went through 1/4 tank of gas and the "buzz" in my bars was almost nonexistent with his map.... Solid products like always....

Yes, you need a PCV in addition to reflash. For whatever reason, adding fuel to the ECU does not work as it should.... I do not understand completely, but for whatever reason it does not translate properly.

According to Don Guhl, changing the A/F table in the ECU works. He does it all the time.

According to ECUnleashed they were going to add my custom map into the ECU, which they did. Unfortunately it was considerably down on power..... The translation from PCV to ECU does not work so well, and besides that.... Once you change the fueling on your ECU, you will need to have custom maps made for each "upgrade". For instance if you buy XYZ's pipe and load his street map, it may run but not like it is designed to. Because it is changing a different fuel table than it was supposed to.

And Ivan has already explained why he uses a PC to do the fine tuning after a reflash.

Each tuner has a personal preferance on how to do something and the end result is if you are happy with it then all is well and as a consumer instead of mocking their ways just don't buy from them.

Ivan along with many others has proved himself to be a top notch tuner so pick who you are happy with and quit complaining about the others.

@Seno - this is why I keep recommending Guhl. You need to have someone who understand what they are doing, not just crunching the numbers into an image to flash to your ECU.

This is why I give props to Ivan for whatever he has Guhl flash, because understands what he messing with. Just like Don Guhl does.

The rest of them are like work horses compared to Ivan and Guhl.

Heck, we had a C14 with an LED display showing butterfly opening, rpm, A/F, Ignition, O2, etc. while Guhl was tweaking the C14 flash. We could see exactly what the motorcycle was doing in response to the changed ECU.

Since Guhl dynoed this C14, he knew the starting HP and torque, and the ending HP and torque, and so we knew it was a big improvement.

And isn't that what is all about ? Pretty simple, actually.
