Lubricated Threads

I have some Ti bits and of course they are expensive as hell. Ti galls easily. Pro-Bolt recommends using the provided lube with their Ti fasteners so I do.

The Ti axle nut has a torque spec of about 90 ft lb. With my Carrazzeria rim, I normally go with 50 ft lbs. I've read that lubed threads should be torqued 40 to 50% less in torque value than dry threads. My Ti axle nut lubed with oil and molybdenum solution is torqued only 25 ft lbs. I didn't wan to overdo it. What do you think about that?

I put Ti fork clamp bolts in. The top fork clamps are specced at 15 ft lb. I marked the OEM bolt before breaking it loose and observed that the bolt turned 3/4 of a turn until it was just touching the clamp. I lubed up the Ti bolt with the Pro-Bolt lube taking measures to avoid any of the lube getting deposited under the head of the bolt (threads only I hope). I threaded the Ti bolt until it was just touching and then 3/4 of a turn. I used the same beam torque wrench I used to tighten the OEM bolt when I installed it 6 years ago. 3/4 of a turn on a lubed bolt came to about 13.75 ft lb. NOT even close to 50% lower torque as suggested several places online. What do you think of that? Just wondering.

Both the axle nut and the fork clamps are tightening against spring tension of the clamp or the swingarm. No doubt this is different than torquing a bolt into a solid part. Wet Loctite is also considered lube, do you go with lighter torque on those? I have started to do that. What do you think?
