If you check the science you will soon realize that the debate over global warming is far from settled as the press and people like Al Gore would like to assert. Tens of thousands of scientists have come forward to say that any global warming seen thus far, is not related to anthropic causes, nor C02, but that natural causes are actually the driving force. Such scientists who dare mention these facts have been villified as worthy of charges of treason or at the very least, seen as nut jobs by the global warming alarmists and the liberals in general who will not report on any anti global warnming data but spin it to be the reverse ..global warming evidence!!.
In reality the temperature of the globe is decreasing presently and the Antarctic now has 43% more ice than 1980 levels. Temperatures for 08 and 09 may be among the lowest for some time. Some predict with the present decline in sun spot activity, that the earth, as has happened in the past, is heading into a global cooling phaze which may go on for decades( as Russian and Chinese scientists predict).
In the face of mounting contrary evidence, the Obama administration is still pushing forward on reducing so called green house gases -specifically C02 immissions, which have zero relevance to global warming. (the greatest green house gass by far is simple water vapor).
The cap and trade (tax) policy that people like Al Gore are all over, will net such people as he hundreds of millions, but will radically tax the average Joe as businesses that must use carbon based fuels, will pass along the costs incurred, to the consumer. This will really slow down the US/Canadian economy and worse ..the lack of any real incentive to drill for new oil will be squelched. Where will that leave the US when the greenies realize there is no quick green answer to energy needs?
Mark my words, the rest of the world will be after any oil they can find. Countries like China, India and Russia will flip off any UN attempts to control the world's oil use and their economic growth will rise as the US/Canada under successive liberal leaders ..which seems likely, will decline. ( we in Canada have a liberal guy just waiting to take over- Justin Tredeau the darling of the left)
The dream of alternate energy is just that for now. A dream. Oil is some 80X more efficient and far cheaper than all the green technalogy for the energy delivered as a NOVA show graphically depicted.Only Nuclear power can compete with oil, but the greenies will not allow that to happen.
I am 100% in favour of cleaning up harmful emmissions from cars or whatever. I am not in favor of randomly poluting this awesome planet God gave us to inhabit. We should be good stewards of what we have been given BUT Co2 is not a threat. It is plant food ..what they breathe!. More Co2 =faster growth of plants.
While Co2 may not be a threat, becoming third rate economic powers is, which will happen to the US/Canada if this nonsense about CO2 capping and taxing is followed through on.
If ever there was a way to down grade the US's military might and world standing, cripplling its economy would be the way.
Rev Wright preached "God damn America." Obama sat under that teaching for years. I am wondering if this Co2 Cap and tax is part of the program to do exactly that.
Should we be concernned? ..and if we should ..

I'm not going to live in fear but one day in the not too distant future we will look back with fond memories at the "Good 'Ol Days" of the early 2000s. Your mighty ZX-14 will have been replaced by a "green" EPA approved 110 volt plug-in scooter that gets 40 miles per charge and who's zero to sixty times are measured in minutes. My concern is that reason in our governing body seems to have vanished. The left leaning global warming alarmists are basing their case on junk science and refuse to allow any rebuttals that might cast doubt on their spurious claims. The fact is the earth has gone through endless cycles of global warming and cooling since it's inception and will continue to do so with or without man's help. As Painterdude pointed out, our contribuiton is miniscule compared to what nature hath wrought. Is Gore going to place a carbon tax on volcanic eruptions next? Have you seen how much filth they spew into the atmosphere? I guess next, Gore will mandate a massive carbon filter be draped over every volcano crater like a giant diaper.

Hmmm.......now there's a thought, since these two so obviously hate America, I wonder if we could coerce them to go back to Africa. America is such a horrible place and has obviously treated the both of them so poorly they shouldn't have to stay here. Maybe Obama and Michelle could live in Somalia, land of opportunity where everything is wonderful.

The net result of this whole "Global Warming er ..Climate Change " issue is going to be that science, once revered as an objective truth speaker, will be seen for what it always has been. Driven by a PC group think. The damage will be especially great if we all start freezing in the chill of much cooler temperatures that continue for decades as is now predicted by many, and have often happened in the past.
The hockey stick climate graph which was widely used to describe global warming has quietly been withdrawn because it has been shown to be completely false. The true graph shows the exact reverse with much higher temp points in the distant past than present. This has not been widely reported, but the tampering that was done to get the hockey stick graph will come out. Soon enough the general public will not believe a thing the white coated priests pontificate on.
Science (at least in its highly specuilative fields) has become something akin to the RC church and the pope of past ages. What the Pope and the church way back when spouted, you believed as truth. The wheels came off that wagon centuries ago ..and so it will be with the high priesthood of science.

I think this will be a good thing and MAY bring back a bit more caution and concern for what is truly true ..and proveable,and dangerous speculatuion limited.

However people being people ..(and egos being egos)

I laugh and point every time some idiot says "..and that was caused by global warming". They throw these bullshit words around like it's a fact, just don't demand evidence, you'll be instantly labelled as a "denier" putting critics on the same footing as nazi's, or muslims denying the holocaust.
It is a typical method of the left, label critics as something (fill in the blank) to discredit anything they say that exposes the lie's.
Meanwhile on earth day the great liar Obozo flies around the country on jets and heliocopters burning up 9000 gallons of fuel to tell everyone to cut back.

What's interesting is not only that dramatic climatic changes have occurred in earth's past (i.e. demise of the dinosaurs) but the geological records show these changes occurred very rapidly. We're also due for a reversal of the earth's magnetic field sometime soon and solar flare activity (also cyclic) appears to be waning and that could lead to a rapid cool down that not even the hot air from Al Gore could reverse. Meantime, the left leaning green weenies driving all this madness will have us shivering in enviromentally friendly mud huts heated by burning driftwood by the time the realization comes you can't power the modern electrical power grid with wind generators and solar panels.
