Anyone running votex rear sets and gp shift?
04/29/09 12:37 PM

Hello,

ordering vortex rear sets that allow gp shift on my zx to match my track bike. If anyone is using them in gp and has any comments , please do - good, bad, ugly,

thanks!

Ran in to a glitch on setting up my GP vortex rear sets, any solutions from those that have the same set up would be appreciated; the kickstand peg (that mounts the recoil spring of the kickstand and is a welded arm from the frame stand mount) is smack in line with my shift rod when the shift knuckle is inverted for GP shift config.

Thanks!

Drew

I used the vortex to gp shift and sometime the kickstand gets in the way

If you can figure out the search function there are a number of threads about this mod. Some shimmed out the LH rearset and others shimmed the hyme joint on the shift knuckle. Someone trimmed a small bit of their fairing and a lot of people just relocated the pin for the kickstand spring to the inside of the kickstand.

I bought a set of ebay specials but the setup should be the same. I used 3/4 inch spacers on the rear sets where the mount to the frame mount to space shit lever out and to get the shift rod as strait as possible and to clear kickstand. Also Used a longer bolt and spacer on lower faring to get shift rod to clear.

Thanks for the details, Cas. I think I'm going to try making an adapter for my Vortex so the rear heim joint is situated above the shift pedal. Seems like that would work without even needing to turn the knuckle on the shift shaft upside down. That's how Satos work if you order the GP shift pedal.
