The only thing i hate aboot this scooter are the god-forsaken, aught to be damned, ugly as sin silencers.
The gen1 silencers were very asthetically pleasing. What in the name of Jehova happened with the 2012s?
Im probably the only one in this forum that likes efficient silencers, which the 2012s have in spades.
Who in the hell in the mech eng dept thought that pentagonal design was going to be eye pleasing?!
Lord give me the serenity to accept the things that idiots perpetrate upon this planet.
My apologies to whom have a diametrically opposed view.

Grn... are you trying to tell me you have silencers that have pyramidial traits?
You will divulge the source of this mech sir. If you value me... you will share your knowledge.
I do not wish to be deprived of the symphony that is my primary reduction system/ valve train.
I only strive to extricate myself from the polygonal tradgedy that is the 14r exaust.

Well...kinda.Not exactly pyramids...but close.Better looking than the stockers...I think.Maybe.I'v grown used to the stock muffs on there. If they JUST didn't weigh so much.
Anyway...on to brighter news...got my first speeding ticket today!Whheeee!...1st in a long time anyhow.Clocked me at the ungodly speed of 84 mph(in a 70).(Again...I escaped the full punishment that I sorely deserve).IF he'd have come around that curve less than one minute earlier...I'll just say...instead of cutting me a break and writing the ticket for 80(20 dolla fine, stays off record as well)...he'd a been calling the city tow...and I wouldn't be writing this just now.Okay...it's my wake up call.
I didn't think the excuse"well officer,I've been trying to adjust my suspension settings to make this an even SAFER bike to ride" would have gone over very well...so I just said..."ya...thank you,I WILL slow down". I said I would...and I will....in my driveway.
Well shit man....somebody's got to R&D this new bike....right?

Personally I love them when my dad took it for a ride down the street it just seemed to me the ass end looked right with those exhausts it looks like a rocket now! To me the old cans looked out of place kinda slapped on oh well to each his own.

OK, me three! The stock cans kinda have grown on me too. They don't look out of place and they aren't totally quiet either. In fact, I like the way they sound under higher acceleration and the sound does get noticed by the public, LOL.
Like Grn, I would prefer that they did not weigh so much. They also get HOT! The original cans on the first gen got hotter than pistols and so do these. I burnt myself frequently on the old ZX 14 pipes before I replaced the cans with KR Tuned slip ons. Loved those KR's. Only ever got warm to the touch; no more welts on arms and forehead (yeah, I am a klutz). The KR's sounded great as well even with the baffles in; I would love to have a set for the new R! Finally, I haven't tried them yet, but I don't think my soft saddlebags are gonna fit very well with the new stock pipes. The cans appear to be more upswept and the width of the tail fairing appears to be greater. Will have to get the bags out of storage and try to fit them up this weekend. See what happens; and consider alternatives.

No, Auron, that heat trails the bike and doesn't come thru the saddle, like the heat on under tail pipes on some sport bikes.
I burn myself by touching the pipes after a ride when cleaning the bike or chain or adjusting the luggage, etc. If I wasn't so clumsy or in such a hurry, or if the oem pipes didn't stick out so far; I wouldn't brush them.

if all goes as plan this week.... im going to run the thing to seat the rings.... 3 or 4 heat cycles... drop just the oil at 100 miles.
2/3/4 gears runs with nice power hits to 50% then some at 70% with combined engine braking... stay off the highway as first if possible.
but gas in thing... adjust the chain when needed ..fresh oil when needed... try not to mess with all the time and money the factory spend to make this bike run.... try to
work and clean the thing as less as possible.
and when i stop to eat i can rest my lunch on those nice cans she has.
yes then do run lean.... and more fuel and air helps but .... 180 to 190 that's plenty... where im going in such a hurry. of the road.
