I'm new to this forum. The zx14 has been on my "want" list for a bit, especially the '12 models. Previously, I've owned a cbr1000, ktm super duke, speed triple, and z1000.

The 2012 zx14r is outside of my budget. Most dealers are currently offering them around msrp price. I'm a little patient, but when do you think Kawi will offer some significant discounts? What are your thoughts of what they offer? Do you think they may be discounted around $10k?

I don't expect to see 2010 discounts (picked up a left-over cbr1000 for $7k)

They won't get discounted deeply unless they can't sell them at their asking price. You can certainly get some discount. I don't think anyone here paid full retail. I got mine for 13,500.

I've seen a few advertised in the 12's but not sure how legit that is. Maybe by the end of the summer there may be a few lightly used ones that folks are selling...you never know.

Many times the cheap ones have a doc and/or setup fee tacked on afterwards. I think low 13's is about as cheap as you'd get one now. What's your budget?

A few took advantage of buying early Kawi had some decent promos for early buyers
If I wasn't so undecided I could of took advantage of another $500 off
But had to be sure and honestly in my opinion for what this bike delivers

Last year the word was that the dealerships were more or less keeping their stock minimal. You pretty much had to order the bike you wanted and they would get it from somewhere else. There was no reason to sell at cut prices cuz nobody had bikes in stock. I personally can say I did not see a 2011 busa at my dealer. The 2011 red ZX-14 was there eventually as was the 2011 zx-10r..........and I think they still are sitting unless those are different bikes. They have two 14r on the floor so I imagine those are selling pretty hot. Given the fact that those bike s are being displayed in good number, I guess you have a chance that a floor model will go on sale for a thousand less in 2013 when the new colors come out. If you know the 14 r is your kind of bike and you have the $$$ now, I would just spend it. A year of riding now will be worth more than the discount you might get next Spring.

still selling 14R for 12,500.

I picked up my Green 2012 on 17 December for $14,000 out the door. I had quotes that were actually $800 lower but they could not tell me when the bike would be there and if they could give me a green bike. At $14,000 I didn't argue with the dealership because I wanted the bike right now. I will be out on the bike today. The odometer is showing 5392.

There is something to be said for buying a bike locally too. If there is anything wrong with a new bike, it usually shows up right away. Working with a dealership across the country could be a problem. I generally don't want ta dealership touching the bike but in the first month, I would like to feel I could easily go to the seller if there was a problem.

Like i stated in my other post..... i would never spend 14.000.00 dollars on a kawaski... you can buy a small car for that kind of bread.. but that's me i guess im little cheap... almost bought one but walked at the last minute..while i was walking something just told me to get the hell out there and take that check with you .lol

PS. or suzuki or honda or yamaha for that matter.

Dealer near me still has all 3 colors and they been there for 3 or 4 months now.... maybe there will be left overs.... for that kind of money i would think there will be.

Back when i was looking around..... the state of W v was the best for prices... at the time the salesmen said 12,999.00 out the door..no set up or freight.

I have seen 2011 leftovers going for as little as 9999.00 so the new one might go for as low as 11,000.00 since most riders will want the new model with the upgrades and the new colors.

And if a new busa is released even cheaper.... then it may be time to make a smart move.... 1st years can be trouble sometimes i had the first year busa and she throw more then half the valves when the cam tensioner falied.... but in 2 weeks suzuki had me back on the road with new head and valves.

MY bike i have now listed for 7190 and buy the time i worked the deal payed 5149.... another reason why i ran not walked when i had that BIG check.

Every ZX14R brought to the United States will sell. But KHI isn't making all that many of them in the larger scheme of things.

They are making far more Z1000 (various models) and Concours 14, and even so, dirt bikes trump the street bikes in sales volume and profit.

So be happy you got the upgrades in 2012, I still don't see how they justified the engineering expense, but maybe the result is the poor performance of the WSB race bikes.

Since they won't bring more ZX14Rs into the USA than they have orders for, and dealers won't order more than one to sit around in the showroom, don't expect to see the price come down anytime soon.

Poster above mentioned the dealer in WV. That guy is awesome, he is selling way below most other dealers. And he must be 100% legit, because (for instance) my dealer knows about them, and complained to KHI because we are so close (I'm like 30 minutes up a US highway from the WV dealer) and KHI said the WV dealer is operating within the sales program so nothing they can, or want to, do about it.

So deals exist. But not rock bottom prices. Not in 2012.

The bikes are already being discounted. I got a substantial discount on mine.

I guess been while since i bought a bigger cc bike.... they seem to cost as much as a small car now a days... but i knew there was no way they were going to get the 14,699.00 that the bike was listed for.

My ZX-11 had an MSRP of around $10,000 20 years ago. The new bike has a more advanced suspension, fuel injection, 40% more displacement, around 50% more rear wheel HP, a more advanced frame, better brakes, better build quality, better lighting, and better gauges. $14,000 is not an unreasonable MSRP for a 2012 ZX-14R. My HD was more expensive 2 years ago.

Just put down a deposit on one today. Candy Blue. they had just 2 left in that color a couple of weeks ago. and when I called they said they only had the one.

While Im not getting as good a deal as some, I didn't haggle anymore than the price they quoted. I always buy my bikes from Honda East Toledo, most of my friends do too. they do an internet special price on just about everything, and even ship a lot of bikes to states like Tx, Fl, and Ca.

When I bought my 03 R1, I had a few dealers here in MI laugh at me and say that there was no way I'd be getting the bike at the price I was quoted. 3 days later I was riding it home.

the 2012 14r is 13,299 + tax(6%) + title, temp plate, and doc fee. = 14,231 otd. good enough.

The local dealer here in Ann Arbor still had a 2011 on the showroom floor collecting dust. They said they had a 2012 on order (green), but didn't know for sure when it would be in. If I wanted one, they would look for a blue one. whatever.
