Shogun Sliders
03/06/16 8:49 AM

Just got a set of Shogun sliders. Do I need to somehow support the bottom of the engine when removing the bolt to install the slider? If so, which portion of the bottom area should I set a jack?

Not necessary but not a bad idea either. I did not support the engine when I installed mine and I just recently removed the sliders and reinstalled the factory bolts. Just make sure to torque to spec with some red lock-tite.

If this is like the sliders I put on my Gen1, you can just do one side at a time. one front engine mount bolt will hold it while you install a slider to the other side. I have only used blue loktite. My concern is removing a red loktited bolt that was torqued might be pretty hard.

Hi Cruderudy, Rook,

Thank you for your feedback. I believe torque is 44ft-lb for the front engine mount bolt. Do I really need to use Locktite?

Just installed sliders. I used the blue locktitie. Sliders look good. Hope they remain as just part of the body design

I used the blue locktitie.

I think that's fine. These bolts have factory locktite on them and that stuff is usually good for more than one removal. I think using a little nonpermanent on them is a good back up. I didn't torque mine to full spec. i could tell they were not torqued 44 lbs when I removed them. I probably went about 35 ft lbs. No loose sliders yet. I check often but engine mounts are obviously a good thing to be sure will never come loose.

...reminds me...there was a thread about a year ago where a guy had stripped one of these engine mounts. He got a longer bolt and stuck a nut with a lock washer on the inside and apparently it worked.
