Suspension settings for street/ curvy track
06/13/16 8:17 PM

Hey guys, been playing with my suspension for a while now and I am going to wear the adjusters out trying to get this thing to feel right. Its just kind of rough and out of balance between the front and rear. I am currently 200 suited and losing some weight. I also have a brocks full titanium so that is some significant weight gone off the bike. I have tried the sport rider settings and they are ok but not perfect. Just wondering if you have been to the track and got a setup, or maybe you are just good at suspension tuning for the street, or if you are just super happy with your suspension what are your settings please???? Give me as much as you know, preload, rebound and compression front and rear if you have or know it, along with your weight. Thanks in advance.

the Gen2 suspension is changed from the Gen1 but the basic idea is the same. The rear sag with solo method is not as perfect as could be measured with a helper but if you are very careful, it should be very close to perfect.

You should be able to chsnge your dampings but the sag you want will be same for street or track...well if you are an experienced track rider, you may have to fine tune sag as well but it wouldn't be by much. The range of proper sag is small but damping needs can vary a lot according to conditions and riding style.

I've had my '14 setup by the suspension guru at the track I like. I'm 220 in track regalia. These are serious track only settings, way to much for any curvey street (unless you are breaking from 140 into a hard tight right left combo)

Front pre-load "B Dim from the service manual" .37 in
F Rebound Damping 2 clicks out (street 6)
F Compression Damping 6 clicks out (street 10)

R Rebound 0 turns (street 1.5)
R Compression Damping .75 turns (street 2)

tire pressure Hot F 32 R 30 (street Hot F 38-40, R 37-38)

I dont drive the bike hard on the street, I save it for the track and dont like the tickets and the lawyers ...

Enjoy

Thanks for the info guys

CrudeRudy I will try your settings next time out. We are only a click or two apart and I feel that is all I need as long as I move stuff in the right direction. Also we are probably within 10 to 15 lbs of one another give or take so it should be real close. I did lower my bike just a touch over a half inch so as long as I am clicking things in the right direction this should get me closer.

Rook, great write up. I probably need to read through about 3 more times to absorb.

CrudeRudy, I tried your settings and I must say they are very close. I think I need to take some preload out of my rear shock or have a little less something. Its a bit chattery. Other than that the front is almost perfect.
