Newbie Performance Question
04/20/20 3:45 PM

So im new to the ZX14R and its amazing and ridiculously fast. Every time i crack the throttle it seems im at 100mph before i know it. With that being said, other than drag strip purposes, I am curious as to what would motivate someone to seek out any performance upgrades for the R. I know on my last bike, Honda Fury, a Guhl flash helped bump hp and tq a bit for a slouchy performer.. I also run a piggy-back tuner on my turbo car. But i cant see the need for any more performance from this superb performer.. or.. hmm.. is it perhaps something that comes later down the line when the performance becomes old hat and you long for that initial rush again?

My perspective is seeing a lot of lost dependability when mods are made to bikes. Witnessing that on a yearly basis, meaning, customer complaints on driveability concerns, but they'd still remove the air cleaner, install pods, have a severe stumble and was it worth modding with the herd? So with this bike I followed the herd with the flash/pipe/pc, just to see what all the fuss was about. I was not impressed so I remain stock and will always remain stock.

If I want more power, I wait for the next world's fastest no matter the brand. Kawi is king so it's a no-brainer.

Thank you for that experienced perspective.. i also plan to stay stock, and perhaps only look to some slip ons at some point for better looks/sound and maybe some further comfort mods. Other than that, i am more than pleased with the bike and her performance, aesthetics, etc

I am in the same place tkng99. A set of lowered pegs is more important than an ECM flash...

So you're wanting an H2 huh?Like the 14r...bulletproof.lol.Avg 35 mpg...not bad.Full up down quickshifting.Nice.Smooth as glass.

I don't think Kawasaki is going to continue the 14r line.So I heard?

"ZX-14R is facing some serious competition from within its own family with the Ninja H2 lineup. Lighter, more powerful, more technologically advanced, and easier on emissions, the H2 one-ups the ZX-14R in many regards".

True story right cher.Riding this motorcycle on the street allows a continuous amount of changing motorcycle performance characteristics. One will never find the limit on this bike. Not on the street..IMO.Just when you think you know it,it pulls you in to push even further. And it's always a new riding experience because of that.Though I love my 14r,my H2 is my go to ride whenever I can.
