" had to be that baby"
Or a nagging wife. I read somewhere that Honda wanted him to sign another 2 year deal, but he only wanted one year. I also read Honda is courting Lorenzo. It's all rumors at this point, and Stoner retiring will cause a scramble. Ducati will be sweating.

just read the news on motogo.com. He mentioned it last year but I'm still surprised!
Rossi getting on the Honda will damage his legacy whether he wins or not. Best scenario: Lorenzo going to Honda and Rossi getting his Yam back.

Well, dry condition shows pure talent and skills but wet shows balls.
I have always thought that Pedrosa was overrated, at least by Honda! They chose him in favor of Dovi probably because he's more consistent but the guy chokes a lot.
Cal and Dovi were really fun to watch to bad both crashed still finished 7th and 8th though....
Rossi-Stoner was great as well. It goes to shows that when/if his qualifying times get better and he can make it to the top 3, Rossi is going for the kill.

As with Lorenzo, it will show Rossi as one of the best all around racers where HP evens the playing field no matter the pile. Stoner does not have that Rossi in him. That is the benchmark. There was no race for 2nd. That family life changed him. No longer in competition mode. You ride around is more how I see the season ending. If Lorenzo is out for blood, Rossi, Crutchlow and the rest... Stoner could go out with a bang. And I don't mean to win his last race. I mean win the whole shebang. Then I'd change my mind about the guy.
GP2 is where the up and comers come from. That #5 Mobil rider took a fairing ride, and he was, 'oh shucks, I coulda had'em' kind of air fisting it. He was that close to reeling in first place. That field was a trip to watch. You move your eyes away from the screen, you missed someone saving it, then getting tagged into the weeds. Another one sliding back onto the track without being taken out by a wheel; to someone's chest being pushed on by the front wheel of someone else is bike.

Think with Stoner is that he always seemed to go about his job as if it was a regular 9-5. Why is he quitting now? Probably because he proved that if he was given a quality bike from the get go he would have won a while back, also Rossi struggle on the Duc validate his talent. If Rossi was constantly battling for 1 and 2 spots Stoner wouldn't be hanging his leathers at the end of the year.
Fun fact I didn't know. His wife walked to him and ask for his autograph on her stomach???? According to my calculation she had to be 14 back then. WOW

I don't think the baby will make him go slow, but it was the thing that made him quit.
They were both young back then , got together at 16 or so, they jammed a lot into there early years
Now they want a normal life, they'll find out that normal is a setting on a washing machine.

dragking, she was maybe 14, so how old was Stoner at the time? Not much older probably....
I think he could hang up his leathers and do something else race-related and still be happy. Many racing greats have done it. Just like many greats in other sports have.

I agree but I always thought that those guys sought immortality through their achievements. That's why I have a lot of respect for Guy Martin and McGuiness. The first one refuse to get in a serious relationship until he's done racing, the other one has got a wife and kids but race the TT like it's a video game.
I still like and respect Casey but doubt they will put him in the all time great list

Ben looks like those Tom Cruise movies where the guy snaps out of it in the race car/jet plane scenario. He's got a bug up his ass because it sure wasn't the bike. I'm keeping my eye on him. He knows what it takes to keep a seat, so he better get busy.

I don't think the baby will make him go slow, but it was the thing that made him quit.I think you're right. I hope he takes it now. He is falling back if he doesn't snap out of it too. That charge from the back from Spies says something to me. Helmet hate to see that seat taken.
Stoner is so good, he can wax them without a problem. He is in his prime, so it's the smartest move he could make. I see a change in racers. You just can't start out at 25 these days. Those were years ago. The family unit came together thru daddy. Daddy was a racer, has a good job, can go camping with the kids. Play in the dirt (Stoner) so young.
The mini bike became so motorcycle/motocross looking now, they are in a shoe that fits them as they grow up. Daddy is such an addict about it, he's going broke with how racing is so expensive. You see how all those family gatherings of kids at the Loretta Lynn riding camps? That is the final for all the districts riding around the country. So, this is the top of the heap in kids.
If dad and kid are not burned out (kid) or tapped out [dad], someway, somehow they keep trucking. That is where Stoner came from; kid camping? Early on bike? Lots of time on a bike. Find a kid that can squirt in the dirt, transfer that to the tarmac, have a front running, "Humble" under him and see what happens?

That was for you, ethin. Isn't that the same thing happening by you? Stoner is a dirt boy by trade, right? Never started very young on pavement. Those gp looking micro bikes were for kids starting out on closed course way back. I read he didn't motocross? You have something else there he was into?

This deal is going to fall threw! There is no way they are only going to do F1. The track is supposed to have a hospital and concert venues. Don't be fooled thinking that K S is a genuine guy. He's trying to set up his school over there and like my vietnamese friend use to say: "it is beaucoup money". Regardless I can't wait... a 20 minutes drive to ride a motogp/f1 circui... PRICELESS

Ben Spies????????!!!!!!!!
I have no idea what's going through that boy's head. He's better than that! If Lorenzo continues to get 1 and 2's but Stoner wins, the yam shot callers are going to look at Spies when it's time to blame.

drag,
I don't see Pedrosa winning a title unless a guy like Lorenzo or Stoner crash out of a season!
Goes something like this, I think: You have your A rider all pampered. B rider is the backup A falls down/breaks. This is more for podium racing is that B keeps the sponsors in the winner's circle. A is for championships. If A-B are on podium all season? B (pedrosa) has a chance.

Pedrosa is awesome when everythnig suits him,Lorenzo is almost always there or thereabouts,Spies should pull something out of the bag soon, i think
stoners retiring to ride his other bike, less traction but more satisfaction
