Buells in AMA racing run 1125cc against the Japanese inline four 600s and still can't beat 'em. Can you imagine what would happen if the inlines could run that kind of displacement?

I would love to see Buell come up with a bike that was better than or even equal to Japanese bikes. I don't understand why they don't just copy the Japanese technology. I see people riding Buells around here and i always have to ask myself, "WHy? Who bought that and for how much? Aren't there enough used Japanese bikes for sale?"

Yeah, I stopped at a Harley bar one time just north of Indy, and when I came out, there were a bunch of Harley punk looking at my 14. One of them said, that's pretty mean lookin, too bad it wont out run a V-rod. I told him that my bike will rape any V-rod ever made. Well it just so happens that his buddy was there with his new V-rod.
I told them to follow me out of town to an isolated straight away I knew of.
I told this guy that I would spot him 8 bike lengths. He said man I oughta be spotting you! I laughed my ass off and said OK, straight up it is.
I never got over ten thousand RPM's and still pulled him about twenty bike lengths. I didn't unleash my 14 nearly as much as I would have running a Busa, but still just ate that V-rod.
I rode back to where everybody was and ask if they wanted to put down 1000 dollars and go two best out of three. They did not have much to say after that. I would have liked to hear their excuses when they got back to the bar, but I could not stand to be around those guys anymore.

I remember when the VRod came out and the Harley guys at work were trash talking me and my VMax. Then the first test reports came out that showed the VRod to be 3/10ths slower in the 1/4 mile than the Vmax at 11.9 to 11.6. Then we got on the Japanese vs American BS and i pointed out that Porsche had reportedly designed the VRod engine. And it still coulndn't outrun 1980s Japanese technology. I seriously wouldn't be worried about racing a harley unless the harley guys a professional and you're totally uncoordinated or something.

Hold everything watch in amazement at what you shall see. A Harley will beat the pants off your Jap junk here it is.
This pro stock engine will beat the pants off your bike because it is 2622cc's. thats right almost twice the size of your bike. They compete against 1500cc Suzukis all the time. So there you have it my friends this is the story of the superior Harley story.

Live and let live, to each his own. If someone feels they have to drop $30,000 on a $12,000 bike that's cool with me. It's their money and their free to spend it any way they like. But when these clowns start talking about how high performance their Screaming Chicken Stage IV Road King is I just want to laugh. Harley's are old fashioned, nostalgia bikes stuck in a 1950's technological time warp. That's it. You guys that own them, great but please don't talk about performance in the same breath.

Run em up to 100 mph if they can go that fast, make sure your in 4th then look over at 'em, smile and roll the throttle on smoothly. A couple seconds later as you pass through 140 that old HD will be a tiny speck in your rear view mirror. If it's the infamous and powerful V-Rod then he just be a small speck. Ok... we done beat this horse to death! LOL!

Rook GLD is only 30 min from you take him over there so he can watch guys on HD blowing Nitrous and doing big burnouts only to be destroyed by 600s. Your buddy obviously knows nothing about bikes poor guy. You could launch in 3rd gear and never leave 3rd gear and still win.

^^Hahha, I almost went to Great Lakes Dragway on Saturday but i had work and after that it was kind of threatening rain. I thought I might ware my leathers and just show up and see if they would let me do some runs. I guess i felt a little intimidated never having been on a drag strip before. If there's a bunch of Harlys, I don't need to feel that way, i guess.
I heard it's only $35 and you can get in line and wait for runs all day til 6 pm. Next time is November. Would sure be fun to try it.

I rode through Missoula Mt a couple weeks ago....headline in the local paper read (I'm paraphrasing) Motorcycle rider killed after losing control making a lane change....I read on...A man riding a Harley made a high speed lane change and the bike experienced high speed "wobble" and crashed and killed the dude. WTF? He changed lanes at about 85 or 90 and the bike goes out of control and he dies....no helmet and he was drinking, but that is beside the point....anyway...is that bike so unstable and poorly designed you can lose control by making a lane change?

I could possibly see that happening on an aggressive lane change where he hit a bump. I would think the weight and the length of the bike would help in that situation.
I just had my 14 give me a wag while in a lean last night. It has happened a few times, always when I run over a bump on a corner. Always just one quick whoop. Prolly a good idea to take the warning and not keep tempting fate since i know where all these bumps are.

"Oh no, they're going to beat our a$$es because they tried to do something they should have never tried to do on 900 lb blocks of iron....on a blind curve."
I know we've all seen this. I just had to run it again. I don't know who is funnier - the bikers or the people in the car.

Rook they have Bike Night this Thursday I would not be intimated at all no reason to be. Granted there are some fast guys but a crap load of slow ones also. The few times I have been people were very cool and friendly and most of the fast guys will gladly pass knowledge along without the elitist attitude. I have yet to see any shit talkers like you see at so many other tracks. It’s all in good fun hell I have seen Busa and zx14 running 11s all night long or 1000s getting beat by 600s and snow mobiles its all in good fun. Many bike nights are not that crowded you can make run after run in less than 10 min a part if you wanted.

^^A guy who was there last Saturday told me that every Wednesday you can run all day for $20. I'm sure I will make it there soon. It would be worth the twenty bucks just to be able to operate the bike as hard as I dare without worrying about tickets and traffic.

Well, the day of the big race has come and gone. The competition never showed up at the party on Saturday. There was a lot of talk about him though. I hear he's good friends with Willem Dafoe and his godfather is Hank Aaron. I suppose it's likely that my Harley friend might just have had something more important come up at the last minute. Losing a race isn't very high on anyone's list of priorities though, is it.
