Hows everyones memorial day weekend looking?

It's looking up! Got a ride planned with my neighbor this evening after I get off work!

Nice. Shit rain here in CT. Monday is supposed to be perfect weather. 84 and sunny. Gunna ride for sure. Melinda goes in for her 7500 mile check up next Friday. Prepping for withdrawls.

Man there is no way im letting this bike out of my sight. I will be doing all maintenance to it except tire installs. For that, the wheels will be brought in without the bike attached haha. I know the feeling of downtime and it sucks!

Early morning on post; Semper Fidelis!

Beginning in 1868 as Decoration Day to dress the graves of those lost in the civil war; it was originally a "yankee" or 'northern' memorial. It followed on President lincoln's Gettysburg address hallowing the ground and dedicated to the memory of those who gave the last full measure of devotion.

Growing in popular acclaim and participation with the world wars and the institution of the tomb of the unknowns in Arlington (incidentally once the property owned by General Robert E Lee) National Cemetery; the day of remembrance fell into some disregard and lesser importance nationally with the public after the Viet Nam trials and tribulations where civil divisiveness marked the rift in the national politic and the discord of the 'generation gap', notably displayed between the "greatest generation" and their sons and daughters of the baby boom following WWII.

Regaining importance and priority in the national psyche with the advent of the war on terrorism following the downing of the twin towers, patriotism and regard for the armed services and especially fallen combatants in Dessert Storm and the conflicts continuing today in that region of the world have engendered a renewal of admiration and appreciation for those who have fallen and will not rise again in the service of freedom.

This indebtedness of so many to so few extends also to those who return home from the killing fields; far too large a number of these return forever diminished in health by the rigors of their selfless service.

This Memorial Day (Decoration Day) please take some time to hallow and commemorate those who gave all. Then please find it in your heart to contribute to one of the many charitable or service organizations that are currently active in easing the burden of the injured and their families, in helping provide for survivors' futures, or in supporting those soldiers still currently engaged in harms way for our sake and the sake of the oppressed.

It appears so at this time; if not ahead of schedule. Lots of interest by Vette groups like those from whom that description/invitation is taken. Also, official museum events will begin to be held there in the very near future.

Wolfman: "We are aiming summer 2015, right?" Never decided as I can recall although fall 2014 was not looking good for our group to be ready to organizea meet and that time is filling (filled?) fast now! We had considered looking to 2015; prices may differ from previous quote, they now have a new track director to deal with and I do not know if Mr. Linkov officially passed our inquiry and tentative planning on to him.

If Nation wants to do a day there, club needs to start planning way early. Now is not too early to start getting it together to reserve a date in 2015.
