I think Euro guys said at least 185hp for the ZX10 when it had just came out. Now they're saying 175hp and that's in Europe. I'm thinking the 14R rwhp will be around 180 at the most. I would love to be wrong though!

If Brock can take it to 207hp or beyond, it'll be pretty good, enough reason for me to get in a couple of years!

My belief has fizzled... Gonna go up into the hills tomorrow and shoot something... maybe I will come back with a different outlook. lol

HERES the official #'s from Kawasaki Europe for the 14r.

Peak HP is almost identical to the 10r.

So that's what,210 HP at 10,000 w/ram air.And 165 on the torque? Is that good? That would mean what at the rear wheel?

About 210hp/120tq with ram air @ the crank... or about a 10/10 increase.

Is that good is a matter of opinion... Personally, I expected more... but that is enough for Kawi to (arguably) make the claim of "most powerful production bike ever"... guess I was just hoping that there would not be an argument.

Apology accepted, but not necessary, Blue...er Green.

Good?... yes.... I wanted GREAT though.
There's gotta be WAY more power pinned up in the new motor... I'll just ride the bench while other guys figure out how to get at it.

No!...the NEW BIKE vids!!!!!

I should tell ya...I have this serious condition...it's called foot in mouth disease.

I think Ricky mentioned about the HP situation...though he didn't say how much...but it did sound promising...I mean...above those Euro numbers.Gonna be a lot of HP tweaking on this new engine. You can bet on that.Kinda hard to do though with all the technical stuff they're using to operate the Ktrac and Power deal.I didn't even realize that the Traction control system actually applies the rear brake under certain conditions...along with the changes to ignition and secondaries.I mean...there's a lot going on with that deal.Gonna be hard to manipulate the output with all that I'm thinkin.

So...is THIS your 'magic number' then? This means YOU'RE getting one as well?C'mon man...you KNOW you HAVE to.Honestly...you do.You'll get a sweet trade in on your bike...it's got everything anyone could want. You won't end up payin that much for the new one.But I don't think yer gonna get much swapping out of parts though...doesn't look like much is gonna fit from the earlier models.I saved a few things...

Good for you, DogoZX !

Wait until late 2012, see what has shaken out. See what Carpenter and Muzzy (if Rob bothers) come up with.

I have a sneaking suspicion the 2012 ZX14R is just an intermediate step in a 10 year plan for KHI.

It doesn't feel like its something they want to live with for more than a couple years.

Maybe in 2014, a ZX15RS with smaller, lighter supercharged engine, lighter frame, better suspension, standard included ABS and KTRC, and new-tech throttlebodies/injectors/ECU which do away with secondary butterflies totally.

That would be the year the C14 gets a major update, to either a non-supercharged version of the then-new ZX15RS, or a neutered version like they have a neutered ZX14 engine now. And the C14 would greatly benefit from lighter weight and better suspension, even more so than the ZX14/15.

If this happens, if I have a 2012 C14, its going back to the dealer ASAP for a new one.

Sorry, I'm not buying that... Kawi has never understated power #'s that I'm aware of... quite the opposite.

That's my thinking, lotsa new hoops to jump through for those wanting to unleash the beast... Is going to be fun to WATCH over the next year or so.
I read the article that talked about application of the rear brake being part of the patent for the TC... but are you sure they are using that part?... don't think they are on the 10r or Connie. ... I hope not... the idea of a computer taking control of my rear brake kinda scares the shit outta me. lol

A little shy... and by waiting I'll have a better idea of which of my current bling will work on the 14r. I'm sure I'll buy one, just not gonna rush out ASAP... Little different decision for me compared to you. Haven't even had my '08 a year... Warranty doesn't even expire for a few more weeks, and that's when the real fun begins.

Wait until late 2012, see what has shaken out. See what Carpenter and Muzzy (if Rob bothers) come up with.

Man I hope Muzzy goes all in on the 14r... Their shop is about 2000 miles closer to me than Carpenter. lol

Wouldn't that be something... I'll break and buy a 14r in 2012, only for them to release a new bike, right about the time I finish throwing mods at it, in 2013. Deja Vu!

"I have a sneaking suspicion the 2012 ZX14R is just an intermediate step in a 10 year plan for KHI".I'm inclined to agree with this. The zx14 went 6 years....improving.Now the Big jump(relatively speaking)....new round of R&D(us)....then on to another unveiling. That's really not unusual IMO.They went from a 1199cc(close to that,I can't exactly remember what it was) zx12,to the 1352 zx14,now the 1441,next?

I know they're out to sell bikes...ya...so natch they're gonna say the best things they can,ya...but I was reading their "product launch" page on the USA website.Checking out the features along with the pictures on that one page where you can scroll across.I have to say...even sight unseen(as it was with my 07 zx)...I really feel this bike is gonna be AWESOMELY redone. It's hard to imagine 'upgrading' the ride quality from the earlier zx14's...but I think this is gonna really blow a lot of minds.I'm really excited.I remember the differences between my really nice riding zx12,then getting on the 14...it was just amazing the difference.I think this new model is gonna feel the same way....thrilling.I don't care what they come out with down the line...power wise and stuff.I don't plan on doing anything radical with the new one...pipes probably, but that's about it this time for me.The whole bigger engine thing, and torque(ya...that's gonna be very cool)is really NOT why I wanted to get this bike.I just know it's gonna be over the top on performance for sportriding...and that's what I wanted...nothing crazy...but controllable performance in a street bike...THE streetbike. My zx14 was the best ride I ever owned.I really had great riding fun on her.I think this experience is gonna be even better than that one.

Actually I'm glad I've never ridden say,a 600 or a 1000.Smallest I've ridden was my 12.So my comparisons aren't jaded by something that is a totally different deal.I've no idea what "handling" SHOULD BE.So every ride for me is a new experience....that's one reason I loved my 14 so much, and my 12.New experiences.I don't know what 20lbs more feels like-only what taking those cans off my 14 and replacing with the TiForces. There WAS a difference, but not something extreme. So the new bike having a raise in weight...I've NO idea what that means really. To me.....20 lbs difference between the stock 14 and the new 14R is a non-issue.She's been tuned suspensionwise to deal exactly how they want her to be...at that weight. So to me...that's fine.Sometimes 'ignorance IS bliss'...sometimes.

I guess I feel this way because every Kawasaki I've had,3,has always been an excellent time. What they said concerning their previous bikes that I bought were true.I'm a bit strange...but when I read their product description(s)....words like "thrilling" and "not unlike that of a fighter jet"..."the likes no zx14 rider has experienced"...the way they describe the features and riding performance things...I trust what they're saying.I think their wording is VERY ACCURATE.I'm stoked.VERY STOKED!

The ZX-14R Traction control system doesn't use the rear brake at all - it controls the power output of the engine thru ignition timing... The system IS capable of far more control than that but those capabilities are not being used at this time in either the 14R or the 10R... Besides I would imagine that manipulating the brakes would add ABS, or at least most of the components for an ABS system.

IDK...that one site I went on that described Kawasaki's 'new' Ktrc...it did say that the rear brake was used at some level....not like applying the brake so to speak, but in subtle ways you probably would never feel or notice? The article compared the Aprilla and a couple of other bikes out there now with their new traction control systems.I don't think this Ktrc system is even the same as last years' on the 10 or whatever. It does have a slipper clutch. The trans has been reworked.So...IDK.One of the 'big features' of this new deal is the elimination of rear wheel hop on decel.I know with my 14,that could be a problem when downshifting and gassing for the next curve.AND braking suddenly at speed.
