I mostly use levers to mount tires since it seems to go better than using the mount end of the bar.

hell you say? Tire irons work better than the No Mar Mount Demount bar???? I thought the bar was the main reason the No Mar tire changer was so great.

"After seeing a video of a bare BST wheel being dropped on concrete from 6' up and bouncing like a rubber ball",wanna bet they refused to sell that particular wheel? You rarely see micro cracks that develop.Until it lets go.Jus sayin.

That might have been one that was dropped already by accident.

Now as far as tire irons working better than the No Mar bar?? --If I'm going to resort to using my tire irons anyway, I think I'd be better off to stick with my $60 hose reel type stand instead of getting a great big No Mar stand. That can't be, can it? The No Mar bar is the reason to use the No Mar stand, right?

I use the bar for dismounts, it just seems easier to use irons for mounting. The first bead goes on with no tools and once the second bead is started, a couple of prys with my long irons and it's done.

on stiff cruiser tires I use the bead breaker on the Nomar, then just spoon them on. LOL I only use the Nomar for sport bike tires now. Dirt bikes and cruisers I use my Moose tire stand.

Thanks, Danno.

Jeff01ss, I only will need to do sport bike tires. I'm getting the impression the No Mar is better than the cheap setup I have now but it isn't as much better as I hoped it would be.

That Moose tire changing stand is a waist high version of the old hose reel tire changing stands. I have enough of a struggle with the low stand I have without worrying it will tip over!

You are doing something wrong if you are tipping the stand over....LOL

Seems like one of those was level stands could be a little tippy if not fastened to something stable. That's why I need a No Mar so I can't tip it over!

Here's all BST has to say about mounting tires.

Q: How should I fit the tires to the BST wheels?

A: A normal good quality shop will be able to fit the tires. Use a tire machine, and turn down the clamping force a touch. Don’t use too much mounting fluid (or soap) as this can make beading more difficult.

Looks like No Mar feels their tire changer is safe enough for CF rims. At least the stands that have the larger style dogged and cam blocks. I think I'll get the No Mar Classic, try mounting tires to my stock rims and Carrazzerias and then on to buying BSTs when I can afford them.

I'm going to get a set of the anodized Marshesini's for my Busa, and my No Mar changer should be delivered Wednesday.
By their recommendation, I ended up with the Classic HD, set of spoon bars, and a Yellowthing. We'll see how it goes.

Years ago I bought a Harbor Freight and some aftermarket teflon pieces to attached to it, but didn't have much luck. Changed a lot of tires with just tire irons, but some of the tires (Avons) have a very stiff sidewall and got I tired of fighting them on the rims.

I didn't mind an occasional nick on my stock rims because most of my bikes have black wheels and a touch up paint pen takes care of it. I'm with you, I wouldn't trust an expensive aftermarket wheel to just anybody especially BST's. If it gets jacked up, I will have the pleasure of doing it myself and no one else to blame.

Thank you Randy. I will do the same. Probably throw in an Extra Hand Tool too.

I have changed tires on my Carrazzarias a few times with tire irons and a cheep stand. It worked out well but I did manage to get a few minor nicks on the inner bead surface even being as careful as I was. No problems, the tires hold air as good as new. It was necessary to use the full length of my 14" irons at the end and that was extraordinary force applied to the rim. I'm sure the No Mar will serve you well. It's gotta be a lot gentler than tire irons. Thanks for your input.
