Average temp?
11/17/13 9:14 AM

My new 14 was running around 156F yesterday on the highway and around 180F or so in town.Today is about the same temp as yesterday (68F) and I'm having to ride a good 4mi to get it down to 160F.Aounnd town it's up to 198F.Just had the oil changed at 100mi yesterday but don't see where that's got anything to do with it.What do ya'lls bikes normally run temp wise?I looked at the Q&A but didn't see a temp figure. Thanks

Sounds normal to me...what's your ambient temps there? That's a big part of the bike temp thing.I've ridden mine agressively and she fluctuated between 145 and 170....with outside temps at 35-55 degrees out.Summertime...here...90 degrees...she goes to 215 at times...but never a problem.Stays about 168-175.Cools down very fast once that second fan kicks in.

That's about normal, it's not too bad for a big motor like this,mi have heard some 600s run hotter than these ?

Anyways C can flash that baby for you, and get it running cooler AND faster ....

Thanks,I might be too concerned.Took it out just now and around town 190's then rode it in a shopping center parking lot for a few minutes, went to 201 then came down to 195 so I guess the thermostat opened up.Just seemed like it ran cooler yesterday with the ambient about the same.Panic attack yesterday morning with the oil.Exhaust smoking (condensation) and thought nothing of it but looked in the sight glass and no oil.Put a 2x4 under the stand and checked again and no oil (didn't give it time to flow and fill the glass).Felt like an idiot when I got to the dealer with that statement.Had a couple in an suv give me a thumbs up when they pulled up next to my bike at a light but was concerned with the oil thing to "thumb um" back, and the light turned green about that time.

Just an FYI the thermostat opens at 140-144°F. Fans kick in at 201-203 and cut out at 190-192.

Thanks Hagrid,I appreciate that info.I just was thinking for a minute this morning that I may have a small coolant leak.Just paranoid now after that oil episode.I couldn't see the oil anyway without reading glasses.Bike is fine I'm sure.Just got off again after riding about 50 more miles and all good.
