Renegade, I haven't even got to ride it yet because of the weather! I don't see ANY way it can be faster than our beloved's! I have a good friend that is a really FAST track rider and as soon as the weather get's better we're gonna find out I can promise you that! I DID tell him that he's gonna be on the BMW cause I don't want MY feelings hurt on it! LMAO!! I just don't see any way it can be faster. Twisty's yes, flat out...I just don't see how. But I'll definitely let everyone know as soon as I find out!

As I have said before, I also have a 2013 S 1000 rr along with the 2012 ZX 14R

and after riding both of them for a few thousand miles each, I personally think the Bmw is quite a bit more fun to ride than the Kawasaki

But that is just my personal opinion

As for the hp4 comparing to the s1000rr, The HP4 has a better midrange, is lighter weight due to carbon fiber parts, it also has a an upgrade suspension system and full Akro exhaust. (but I put a full Akro shorty system on my bike anyway, so)

but as far as peak torque and HP output, it's exact same as the s1000rr, better midrange but same peak output

Congrats. Great looking bike; the hp4 is "the" bike to have right now. Its the cream of the crop, bar none

Like to race one of you guys on my 14
I think I could match/beat the rr on a straight out drag.

I am not so sure about that

I think the s1000 would take it, if not from
A standing start, almost certainly from a rolling start . The s1000 is insanity on wheels.

The BMW is everything they say it is. The more I ride it, the more impressed I am with its power and handling

Thank you ZX! Like I said, I really wasn't out for a litre bike unless I could score the HP4. It just seemed like a really cool bike to have. The BMW dealer here in Tulsa told me that they know of NO others around here. They aren't even getting one this year. They had ONE last year and a guy in Florida bought it. I am sure looking forward to giving it a whirl.
Renegade:
I'm with you on that, again I just don't see how it's gonna stay up with my 14R on a straight or even gentle curving run. That's why I'm not gonna ride it when my buddy and I do "THE" race. If anybody's gonna get his feelings hurt it aint gonna be me! LMAO I honestly bought it because I had the chance to get one and even though my deepest love is for my Carmalita I just thought it was the ONLY other bike I thought was almost as cool. Not as fast...just really cool.
I'm just sooooo freakin excited I'm about to piss my pants to ride her just to see. This damned weather is gonna have me in therapy if it doesn't break!! Not even mentioning the thoughts of turning to drugs or alcohol!! LMAO!! I'm just too high strung to sit in the house this long!

First Gen and 1000rr - the 1st gen will be eaten! Unless Renegade you have made some adjustments, mods underneath that shiny plastic. The BM is lighter, and a track purpose tool. Me thinks Sick's ride would gobble up a 1st gen stock to stock set up. That is of course if both you and ninja are skilled in the same way at launching.

Very cool. If I could have another bike (and I had the money) that would be it. I sat on one at the MC show, and it was by FAR the most comfortable 1000cc machine in its class. I was quite shocked. It was almost like they molded the ergonomics to fit me. Don't know why, but even the regular s1000rr didn't feel as good. maybe it was my brain trying to convince me that it was worth 30k. lol.

From the comparisons I have seen, they are so close to even it all comes down to rider weight and skill. A modded zx14r will beat a stock s1000, and the other way around. If you catch the s1000 in too high a gear you will embarrass them, but if they’re ready for you, well you better come out swinging.

Ha ha ha ha ha. Oh I am sure. I fed an rr its nuts last summer. Ha ha ha easiest hunny I ever made. What hides beneathe . . . trust me I would extingush that bike.

I don't generally kiss and tell, so what's under the plasti stays between me and my bike.

Well here's the run down, the BMW is a 1000, to be putting out that type of HP out of a stock bike, is amazing, what I am hearing is around 185 to the ground stock, real world, now I don't know anything about flashing the ECU on a BMW, but I know the 14 with ECU flash and pipe is capable of putting 212 to the ground, also factor in the 14 has about 30 ft. Lbs. more of torque, the 14 weighs more, but you can shed up to 30 lbs. with full exhaust....

Both bikes are awesome, but different ..... One thing to mention here, the ZX10 with a simple wire snip, is capable of getting within 5 H.P. Of the BMW, and has a different power band, not putting the Beemer down in any way, but a BMW in my area, is about $5000 more than a 14 OTD. And a little less than that for a zx10, that is a regular 1000RR, not the HP4, not even sure how much an HP4 is OTD ?

I guess for me, it was economics, if I had unlimited resources, would I have an HP4 ? You bet ! And a ZX10,
and a .......... Well you know ..............

I looked it up last night. It appears, from what I gathered, the starting base MSRP is almost $21,000.

sickninja: you're going to be surprised! Stock for stock. I would give the edge to the HP4. 185 hp is stock ZX-14R territory and a lighter S1000RR doesn't need much torque to get going. If riders are equal in weight and skills, proper drag racing is where the 14R gets to shine. I know S1000RR have a limiter restriction for a certain amount of miles. I'm not sure about the HP4. Makes sure your buddy is in slick mode and I think you're going to memorize that new license plate in no time.
I'm jealous. I wish I had a HP4 in my stable

Hey Dragking! Yea I've had a couple of guys tell me that they really are a handfull. I think I'm gonna get to ride it this Friday. Yes they are supposed to be restricted to 8,000 rpm for the first 600 miles if I remember right. It's ok, I'll get time to get a feel for her and get acquainted with the electronics. I feel REALLY lucky to have a chance at one, I've tried a couple of times around the country to get one and everyone just laughed when I called them (BMW dealers) so I know they are really limited production.

Enjoy the HP4. I have a 13 s1000rr and 13 ZX14r. The s1000rr can make some steam even in stock trim. About a year ago Brock's did some work with an s1000rr. With minor mods ran some great 1/4 mile times. Surprised my drag racing friends.

HA!! That's what EVERYONE keeps telling me! I still can't honestly get it my head that it can be so potent compared to my 14R!! I just can't!! I will soon know, they're saying, we're gonna have weather in 50's by Thursday and Friday and Mid 60's by Saturday and Sunday so I'm gonna do all I can to get that 600 miles on her!!

While I'm thinking about can ANYONE here verify as to the rarity of these bikes? Are they really THAT numbered?

I read that the competition model is the really rare bike. something like a 150 to the USA? The regular hp4 is still quite rare, but I read that there may be as many as 2500 produced worldwide?

It's an awesome bike no doubt.

The more I ride my ZX, the more I consider selling my S1K. The ZX is just an awesome all-round streebike. The TQ down low is almost intoxicating. My Beemer makes 186 to the wheel stock. The difference is the TQ. The ZX makes at about 4.5K what the Beemer makes at peak.

I'll be honest - I bought my BMW after riding my RC51 for the last 12 years, and on that test ride, the Beemer felt like a Goldwing. I swear, I rode it a good 45 mins, and came back and bought it. Now, after 1-2 hours, I begin to think about when I'm going to park the thing as it begins to feel uncomfortable when you're not ripping apexes.

The finish of the BMW, along with the electronics is on a whole 'nother lever than the ZX. I'll give it that. I love the heated grips. THe shift assist is perfect, and the TC and ABS are top notch.

Now, if only they would offer a cruise control.

If one absolutely "had" to go, I think I would sell a Kawasaki over the BMW

Because I enjoy riding around town with friends and developing my cornering skills (at the track this spring) more that I enjoy long tours

drag racing, they are neck and neck IMO. So I can't give the Kawasaki the edge in that department but the BMW certainly gets the edge in the cornering and track departments

I initially got a real comfortable bike for the fiancé to ride with me;(that and The fact that it's the most powerful bike on the road!)

but after I got a comfortable bike, the 14r, for her to ride on and bought her a new helmet and jacket, she tells me she don't particularly like to ride on a bike. Lol

But I would not sell either; having one of each is like the best of both worlds

I love the big Kawasaki how it holds the road when excelling down the interstate at breakneck speed. Such a rush. Planted, powerful, unstoppable beast of a bike !

Sickninja: just come down here in Austin, Tejas! 72-80 degrees from Friday to Monday.

I actually saw an HP4 last weekend during my 300 miles. They look better in motion... Saw that light and I was like what the hell is that and when we passed each other all I could say is "lucky bastard" lol.

they even scored a great rider for this year TT : M Dunlop's Beemer

They also won the world Super stock 3 years in a row now with Sylvain Barrier.

one thing I also forgot to mention is that without a flash the ZX-14R will go into safe mode when you accelerate hard (see Brock's diaries on the ZX-14R) and will be hard to handle if you switch the TC off so it's a big disadvantage. With a flash you stand more of a chance but regardless of the outcome it's a WIN WIN for you!

S1000rr's are sick bikes. I was lucky enough to do about 40 miles on one when they first came out. They rev like crazy and when your over 7-8k they sound like they are going to suck the tank into the intakes. They scream. After 40 miles on the S1000rr my back was happy to get back on the 14 though. It felt like getting onto a cadillac. Nothing matches the torque of the 14 either. You could feel the difference. The Hp4 has launch control which I bet works great. Let us know how you like it and congrats.

Guess who's going to try and take a run for the podium? They'd be idiots like old: they do not run the 200 let alone more before TT.
