Corbin seat install.
04/07/13 7:11 PM

Having problems with the install on my 2012. Went to put seat on and when locked down the back of the seat is about a 1/2" high in the back. If anyone has had this issue please let me know what you did to correct this problem. I see that Phantomx2k had this on his seat but I can't find him to send him a PM.

Mine fit pretty well. Check the rear latch and see if they shimmed it with some washer. You could try taking those out. There is a secondary latch, check that as well. You may be able to shave it down a bit. I had the opposite problem with mine, it wouldn't latch because the latch wasn't down far enough so I put washers in place to shim it up.

You may also try to bend the seat a bit. It's a fiberglass pan so it's pretty tough.

Efffn Corbin, had this issue with my smuggler and seat pillion. Could not get the seat to seat properly. Had to use cargrade tapefoam to seal gaps after trying to manipulate the bolds and seat plate. Decided then and there I will never do Corbin again, it just is not manufactured to match. I agree with Phantom, you'd got to play with the bolt assemply, for me it was rubber material under the washer, but realistically, it still was not right.

I believe you have to remove the helmet hooks under the seat for the Corbin to sit right.

Not at all. I still have mine and my seat fits perfect. I did have to shim the rear latch though.

Yup just had time to look at it and all I had to do is shim the back bracket a 1/16". Can't wait to get out and ride. It's been in the 30's here and rain and snow on top of it. Thanks for all the help.

When I pulled the Corbin seat off my 08 and put it on my 12 the only way it would fit was to remove the helmet hooks. Sounds like Corbin made changes so the seat would fit the 2012 with hooks. I only use the Corbin seat when I ride 2 up. Otherwise I run the stock setup.
