New Corbin Seat Installed!
06/19/12 10:15 PM

I have to say this is an absolute must for longer rides. My ass was killing me after about 30 minutes. Now I can ride all day with no issues at all. The seat is well thought out. Comfortable, dished just right and the sides are a little narrow to allow you to easily hang off during spirited riding. I've been dealing with Corbin for years and have always had good customer service though sometimes what you ask for doesn't always get translated to the production floor. Case in point I told them to use the Carbon Fiber pattern without the Wheel/Wing graphic. Well they used the pattern but added the graphic anyway. They didn't outline it in white so it's kinda hidden but since it's there I actually like it and it's gotten some compliments so I'm not going to complain.

The fit and finish is superb and you can get it with heat that just plugs in! I didn't on this one but I thought about it. I had to slightly adjust the back lock on the seat but other than that it fit as good as stock.

The comfort this adds to the bike makes it an absolute must have mod... Here are some quick pictures:

Good shot of the pattern and carbon fiber look

If your thinking of a seat replacement this is the way to go! I had someone with a Sargent seat sit on it and they were like WOW, but Sargent also makes a good seat. The big selling point for me on the Corbin (besides I've owned about 10 of them) is it works with the stock cowl where the Sargent doesn't (for the 12, the other years it's kind of a weird setup with some stick on stuff).

Best Corbin I've had yet. The flatter seating area fits me better than stock. Corbin got it right with this one.

Hey guys, please define "flatter" does it hug you sides? Meaning does it cup your butt? My last Corbin on my Blackbird was OK at best, I had Rick Mayer re do it and it was the best!
I have a bony as* and need more side support so my tailbone does not hurt.

Thanks!

Edit: Also, would you say it's wider in the back than the stock seat? I know the '12 has a better seat than previous models but is the Corbin for the '12 even wider than stock? It does look like it "dishes" a little in the back.
Plus, does the shape for the passenger side keep the passenger from sliding forward?

This was the seat made for me by Rick Mayer, it was super comfy on long (8+ hrs) trips.
My fear of Corbin is that they use only one foam type and it needs a minimum of 500 miles to take shape.
Also, it's a generic seat, whose butt was it designed for?
My Rick Mayer seat was made to me, they required multiple photos of me sitting on it to make it for me.
What "size" are you guys?
Sorry for all the questions, it's just a fairly costly item if it does not fit "me".

Your killin me . Thats my next mod . I love what they did with the new 14 seat, plus wifey wants a backrest. I had to get the exhaust outa the way first. I was lubing my chain and that rocket launcher burnt the piss outa my arm. I politly walked over to the tool box and let it have it. Installed full system 2 days later. I persoanlly think thats one of the best looking seat as I've seen and I've been at this a day or two. I had a H3 if that tells you anything. Anyway love the seat, looks awesome.

HI Chicken,

That is a nice tank bag too...who makes it..which model is it..is it magnetic or does it have 3 straps?

What is the cost of the tank bag, and the Corbin out the door?

Id put my money on that beung a bagster/ baglux non magnetic, straps on, and you can fit a tall tank bag to the tank cover

The seat dishes slightly in the middle and is relatively flat everywhere else with a slight ramp up by the tank. Also Corbin uses a very solid fiberglass base pan for the seat instead of the cheap plastic the factory uses (or custom saddle makers reuse). That pan doesn't flex. The Foam does take a little time to shape to your butt but even before that it's WAAAAYYY more comfortable than stock. The stock seat almost domes up and puts all sorts of pressure in spots it shouldn't where the Corbin doesn't do that at all.

If you had a custom seat made just for you usually those will be marginally better than a mass produced seat but generally cost more. I can ride in comfort all day on my Corbin, I had one on my CBR1100XX as well and I could do 600 mile days easy. They fit me well. I used to be 260lbs (stand 5'7") and they worked and now I'm 200lbs and they work and when I was really slim at 165lbs they worked so they do well no matter what size you are. At least for me...

The tank cover and bag are from Bagster in France and I purchased through Donnington-Moto in the U.K. I forget the price somewhere around 300 for both pieces I think. It straps and bolts on. The bag has special attachments to allow it to flip forward to gain access to the gas cap. The bags come in several different sizes also but this has the capacity I will need and doesn't interfere with seeing the gauges or to the bars.

Phantom, you explained the seat better than I could. I wasn't sure I would like the Corbin because they generally are hard as hell. This one feels great and it being flatter takes pressure off of my wrists. My bike is used mostly for sport touring. I'm on the Iron Butt Assn list and 1000 mile days on this bike will be easy.

Hey Phantomx2k I just got the same seat as you have and I was wondering what you did to the back bracket to get the seat to fit. When I put the seat on and lock it down the seat is about a 1/2" to high in the back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
