Privy - Hope springs eternal... Why get excited about something? The economy and the world outlook is so bleak now so why not have something to talk about and get excited about? Whether or not the pics and the hype is real or not, we will all have to just wait and see, but in the mean time, why not have some fun speculating and wishing???

I have fun playing the devil's advocate, too. I mean look at the ONLY front end picture purposed to be a 2012 ZX14. Its not, but lets have fun with it.

To make the front end work, KHI would have a completely scrap the current snorkel ram air, which works exceedingly well after how many years? And they would have to narrow the bike significantly, because that picture looks like a ZX10 more than a ZX14.

So what do I think KHI is up to? Maybe there is a new ZX14, but it doesn't make sense in light of the Japanese economy and the US market.

Go look at your dealership. How many ZX14s do they have on the floor? How many C14s. How many Vulcans. How many ZX10Rs?

Looking at mine, 1 ZX14 been sitting for 6 months. 3 new ZX10Rs, bet they are gone by now. Zero C14s and KHI cannot make them fast enough. 1 Vulcan, a month ago there were 4. 1 ZX1000, there were 6 a month ago.

See the trend? I'd love to know what the trend is in your location.

And KHI will be spending money to feed the trends. Not to feed our fantasies.

And yes, its fun to speculate. If I had enough money I could make one out of any 2008+ ZX14 with everything you are asking for. Today. :)

You're right... that's not it. So... just what are they gonna release??? My guess, 1429cc's with bigger TB's and a "tweaked" head. Redesigned plastics, but still distinctly "zx14" looking (ie: lights and foremans). TC and ABS standard. Lighter wheels and titanium exhaust. We'll see soon enough... Tick Tock.

We will see..... Last year I went on record saying no change. Not so sure this year, but it makes zero economic sense from KHI. They will not sell anymore of them than they have 2008+ bikes.

In case you haven't noticed, we can't get the range of aftermarket parts you can for the Hyabusa. A&A Performance probably won't be doing a ZX14 supercharger, when they won't be able to sell enough to pay for the development costs.

So, on Oct 10th, there will be a press release, or there won't. And I'll know then if KHI has lost its gd mind or not.

Bigger jugs, bigger TBs, blueprinted head. Add US$ 1,500 minimum.

Redesigned plastics. Add US$ 300 a bike for engineering costs

TC and ABS standard. Add US$ 1,000 minimum.

Lighter wheels. Add US$ 500 minimum.

Titanium exhaust. Add $1,000 minimum.

You don't get exotics for free. And if you have to bump the price up into 1000 RR range, you lose a lot of customers.

LOL, yeah, I think there is something new coming BUT how new? Remeber the gen 2 ZX-14? Ha, Gen 2 my foot. They are all the same bike with minor updates.

HGodd point on the aftermarket stuff. However, if they really hit one way the F out of the park, there will be an almost instant response from the aftermarket world. Like the S1000 had. I'm sure the aftermarket was and is fairly limited for most bimmers but the s1000 has a ton of great stuff availabl. At the least, they were in the pants of Akrapovic exhaust before the release of the bike. They offered a deal to order the friggin thing with an Akra installed.

Privy - You're pretty much on point on most accounts... I only disagree on one - I DO think that they (KHI) are up to something... but I think this is just like any other release of any other "new thing", just like the new ZX10, BMW S1000R, or even the Gen 2 Busa, before the actual release there were rumors, leaked photos, and artist's renderings of them all, but they were all actually released... I think this is a hype building campaign just like aything else out there, designed to wet our whistles and want it enough to make some sales when something finally hits a showroom. Got to admit though, isn't it working? The rumors are all over the web, people have already committed (at least in word) to buying something that we really don't even know exists yet! Just the thought of something new coming out of the "skunk works" has a buzz going all over hell and back! But either way, it's about time that the 14 be at least freshened up some - don't u think? On the other hand, the piture at my local dealership looks pretty much the same as yours, but I think my particular stealer is making a few more sales than most, as I am in an area of Texas that has not been hurt as much by the economy as most so people are still buying toys...but then I only think that this is so because of the ridiculously high gas prices in the area - some are buying bikes as a way to save on fuel prices... 250 Ninjas are the hot ticket...

As to those costs, Priv... Pretty accurate, I'd say... But I'm hoping Kawi eats some of it in favor of higher sales... Who knows though... The economy may be down, but the sales of top shelf liquor are up.

Doesn't look slimmer or meaner to me. Just looks fatter. Get some crashbars on that thing for the truck radiator sticking out on the sides......(Ahhhhhh.----that is the exhaust they copied the busa black chrome look----well, get some crash bars anyway!)

yeah, ok. I'm being an ass but I would/will not sell my old 14 to buy 80 cc more of engine. Any weight loss that might have happened would be off the wheels. (or if they are sneaky, they took some weight off the stock exhaust...oh that would be sneaky....no more Kawi for me if they pulled that one)
