yes, I just skimmed this one as well. Now, this is the second mag with less than 190hp on the dyno. Wonder if its the same bike or what? Sport Rider also recorded only 185 hp. These guys ran the quarter in the low tens as well; couldn't break into the 9 second bracket!

Gotta wonder if they left ktrc on in their dyno tests as well as in the quarter mile runs. If you aren't skilled enuff to launch without ktrc or aren't practiced like the pros, then OK, I can relate; if you make a note of that in your tests. Can't figure any reason to leave ktrc engaged on the dyno though.

Tried to register with the web site and ask these questions but something went awry and registration didn't go through.
Oh well, not concerned enuff to re-register.

Still, they acknowledge that the ZX is King. If they could get a good launch in the quarter without the use of the traction control, then maybe they would ordain it "Grand Ultimate Poohbah" . heh, heh,

Damn, what's up with the MPG? 32? I know it does better than that. That old windbag at motorcycledaily was getting 44.

Yup - they were leaving it in the #1 setting. They say that in the videos.

It's always like that. Manufacturers always inflate HP numbers. That or they may deliver slightly more powerful bikes to testers. Just by selecting the best con rods, pistons and slightly altering the generators, Baba was able to get 8 to 9 additional hp on the Blades which were raced at the TT. I'm convinced that when they send their first models to testers every manufacturer does the same. Regardless of the bike/model the early HP numbers are always higher. After the bike enter mainstream you tend to see a lower average number. Get used to see 184-188 hp which is what 1st generation owner with the best mods get. Kawazaki knew what they were doing: They fixed all the flaws people like me are trying to fix with bolt ons and added traction control etc. It's a good deal! Now if they could add ABS for about the same price!!!!

"Manufacturers always inflate HP numbers".well...in this case....Kawasaki purposely avoided saying anything about HP numbers for the 2012.180 something is NOT even near what this engine is producing stock out of the crate. One day up ahead...I'm seriously thinking about dynoing my bike...as is.Not that 5 HP or whatever means anything really to me...BUT...it would be kinda cool to just see actually what she's layin down.I wouldn't know 5 hp either way anyhow. Not with this bike.

I'm not sure but I think Snuffy bike came with a piece of paper that stated it made 190 hp! I know kaw's PR machine didn't wanna say anything.

They said the BMW ran a lower ET and more MPH at the strip. It was also close in RW HP. I found that all to be surprising. The 14r should be putting out a lot more HP than a BMW 1000. Kawasaki needs to get more power out of this thing. I wonder if a PCM reprogram would wake it up, like we saw with the latest ZX10R.

Hey guys new guy here mostly surfing bikeland, always check this site also and thought i would give some of my knowledge if i can on these bikes here.I have a zx14R se,and on are dyno here which is ALWAYS right with the mags,my bike dynoed 185hp at 600 miles with syn. oil in it.And its a very stong bike.I now have the brocks single ct exhaust and pc5 with the street map on it and with about 1000 miles i went back and pulled 201hp and 117tq. They are REAL numbers for this bike. Now on that same dyno a 2010 zx14 with exhaust pulled 176hp,a 2009 busa brocked out pulled 184hp,and a 2011 gsxr 1000 with exhaust pulled 166hp. So yes the 14 is a strong bike, even more so when you add a good full exhaust system to it.Another strong ass lil bike is the bmw 1000rr that lil 1000 pulled 197hp with exhaust and tuned, but remember it pulled that power at 13000+ rpm and had 40 lbs less tq then are zx14r's do.In a roll on if the bmw isn't SCREAMING you'll leave it like its standing still.

Never having dynoed a bike. Is there some type of fan they could pressurize the ram intake with? Would that make a difference, considering that's how the bike was designed to work?

Good point! That little fan they put in front of the bike is a joke!

That lil fan is just to keep the bike from overheating and to keep it as cool as possible
