Help Fuel Problem
05/25/14 11:05 AM

Hi all
Badly need your help, as I have a problem with my 2012 ZZ1400.
Have recently fitted a PCV and Autotune using Rook’s under seat tutorial, which made life real easy.
All seems to be working perfectly using a base ZZR map and an Atotune AFR of 13.2
I have only used two trim tables so far, but can already feel an improvement in the smoothness of the bike.
My problem is when I refuel; usually leave it until the bottom fuel bar is flashing. After about 3 to 5 miles it feels like it is running out of fuel, no response to the throttle at all. It has never come to a stop. I have found that if whip the clutch in, rev it a few times quite hard it clears and does not return until the next refuel.
I can’t believe it’s a PCV problem; all the connections and earth are good. Any thoughts on it being some sort of contaminant in the tank being moved by the new fuel? I have tried different makes of fuel and not letting it get so low, but I still get exactly the same problem.
Any ideas, experiences or suggestions would be appreciated.

When you have a map running, the first 2 rows should be left at a 0 cell number. If those are being filled with the 13AFR numbers, they may be too rich at the lower rpms. So, are your cells filled across the board and those 2 rows are also?

Thanks for the response.
I wasn’t being very clear on the map I was using M17-005-501, this is the closest I could find to my set up.
Optional Akrapovic header, Yoshimura R55 cans, O2 Optimizer installed, 2012 Kawasaki ZX14R European model.
The Autotune so far only suggests small trims of about plus or minus 6, which seems quite close, but I guess to be accurate it needs some long runs.
Looking at 501’s Autotune target AFR numbers for the first three gears they are all zero 500 to 1500 RPM 0 to 100 % throttle. Fourth to sixth gear is all zero apart from 1750 to 12000 RPM 80% and 100 % throttle 13.2 AFR.
Again the only thing I can compare the problem to is on a carburetor fed bike and you momentarily turn the fuel off.
Not sure how the PCV obtains its power but could this be momentarily dropping out? But then why will it respond to the throttle with the clutch disengaged?
Help appreciated.
