Hey you know what this site screams of need of. It needs a recent column other than all these individual columns that I'm too lazy to scan all for interest. Sometimes someone makes a post and no response because its in the maintenance column that most might not look at all the time and so on. For sale items might be separate but this thing is spread too thin. You know like watered down whiskey. That's why it seems so dead around sometimes.

Have you tried using the "Show New Messages" feature? It shows you just the messages you've not seen before, so you can look through everything new in a couple of minutes... -bg

I would agree that posting topics in the appropriate section (i.e.: posting stuff for sale in the "ZX-14 For Sale" section) risks having your post go unanswered due to lack of viewing. The General section is the only place people look because by now, most of us have gotten the idea that traffic is pretty light around here. Simply put, there is less reason to have separate sections with so few new posts happening. It's unfortunate because I like the way separate sections organize threads and make them easier to find when I want to refer back to them. Perhaps it would make sense to have LESS sections at this point? That way, we would be more likely to look in each when we visit the forum?

Ironically, this was a concern on the old forum that had much heavier traffic and several new posts/day. Even then, everyone wanted to post everything in General because that is where we all looked most.

Why not just subscribe to the RSS feeds? Works for me anyway...

Just tried it again and found the RSS option works for all columns but the "show recent messages" option only works if you are already in the general or whatever but I like the options.

It should be working everywhere. You probably didn't have any new messages in any but the general area since the last time you logged in.

I use this 2 or 3 times a day. I've read every message since the forum started, and I'm only spending a few minutes a day on it (well, maybe 10 or 15 minutes...) -bg
