Nice to see they are eliminating that stupid flimsy pod system of shield attachment. The C-F is naff, too!

Seen CF lids priced as such. Sorry, NOCAN DO here. I'd be more inclined to get a Nex helmet if I could find one available to the US...heard they are about as light as it gets and far less expensive.

A friend who was a Joe Rocket sales rep had the JR C-F lid. It was VEEEERRRRRYY light and seemed of good quality. Don't really know anyplace that retails them, so I've never tried one on, but they look good. I think they are made by HJC,

Yes...I know...that's why I can't wrap my head around that price....sheesh.Guess the ONLY ones gettin that lid will be the Pros...sponsored.Disappointed actually with this offering from Arai.Oh well.
The Joe Rocket one is very cool...especially with the color options...(a few anyway).

I've never have "drank the koolaid" of carbon fiber helmets. My Bell Star is plenty light, doesn't buffer or shudder at high speeds ( with the spoiler installed that is, never rode fast with it prior to ) and lots of pro riders trust the very same lid. My take on the price is something for rich kids to show off at the local bike nights ;)

$4k for a helmet..? I'd rather buy a cheaper one and put that money towards some BST wheels or something. I'm with Hellmutt, other than the "oooh look, shiney" flash of carbon fiber, what's the point? I'd expect it to shave of a few fractions of an ounce, if you wanna cut that weight off your head, wear contacts instead of glasses, if you don't wear glasses, shave your head...
The shell is probably one the of lightest components of a helmet, the foam, padding and visor are all WAAAAY heavier than a paper thin coating the foam is wrapped in.

Night:
It's kind of like wiping your ass with a 100 dollar bill! Everyone wants to try it, but few can afford it.
It's all about showmanship with that lid. Like I said. I hit lotto I'll hook you and I up with Carbon rims, but I am also buying that helmut!
Mad love

I have a limited edition (only made for 3 months) carbon fiber Schuberth C3 helmet.
Wore it all 2012, and what little I got to ride in 2013.
Getting a non-cf Schuberth C3 Pro to wear all the time, and putting the LE CF back into the box and keeping it.
And for all that functionality (including the SRC communication system which replaces the back neck padding) I barely paid $1,000.00 .... which was a lot to me, but sure not the obscene amount Arai wants for an fugly helmet.
